nixun
TravelZoo released this promotion for the Beekman Tower Hotel in midtown Manhattan (near the UN). Rates good December 19, 2005 - March 31, 2006 with code TRVZOO. It is refundable until a day before.I like the location and the hotel has good reviews.Do you think I could do significantly better by bidding on Priceline? Maybe worth it if I can save $50/night.But I haven't seen too many wins posted recently... Link to comment
thereuare
The 1BR suites at the Beekman get much bette reviews than the Studio Suites. If you try bidding on Priceline, are you only looking MTE, or would you also bid MTW and/or UM/CPS? nixun
I could add those other areas. We're going to be arriving into Penn Station, so something close to it would be nice. Link to comment
thereuare
I don't think you will be able to beat that rate by $50/nite, but this is what i would try...At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones, only one re-bid zone at the 3* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones before proceeding.First i would attempt to beat the rate and upgrade the star rating...Select 4* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $125, if rejected add MTEBid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140.If successful with the above it will upgrade your star level and be cheaper than your back-up.If the above is rejected i would proceed as follows:Select 3* UM/CPS...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* MTE...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* MTW...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* UM/CPS and MTW...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* UM/CPS and MTE...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* UM/CPS and MTE and MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115.I went up to $135 (4*) and $115 (3*) as i think that is a bit more reasonable and still gives you a better deal than your back-up, but you can stop each strategy at whatever amount you are comfortable with.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. nixun
Thanks for the detailed strategy! I tried the 4* bidding a few days ago, but didn't win anything.I'll chck out the 3* hotel list and possibly try that over the weekend.... Link to comment
