Hopkid Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 Hotwire has a 4* downtown NYC for $251 (as of 0830 EST). Went on Priceline and got the Soho Grand after the following:MTE: $150MTW: $175DT: $200I had selected a minimum hotel rating of 3-star but still got the 4*. Yes!BTW, I did have a fallback reservation at the 3* Hotel Metro for $319 which allowed me to wait until the last minute to try Priceline.

Hopkid Posted December 6, 2005 Author Report Posted December 6, 2005 Of course, you're right. I was a bit crazy during my thought process and tried to increase my odds of getting an affordable (for me) room at a 3* hotel minimum (more 3*-plus places in MTE and MTW). BTW, I was glad we stayed at the Soho Grand and would stay there again. It's in a great area, convenient to the Canal St. subway station, and the service was great. The staff were friendly and down to earth and we didn't get ill-treated because we had a Priceline reservation.
