tgrigg Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 Have been bidding for a couple weeks on a 4* or better in San Francisco for 8/9 (Sat) through 8/12 (Tues), in the following zones: Financial District - Embarcadero Union Square East - Nob Hill Union Square West Fisherman's Wharf SOMA - Moscone Center Bids up to $185 were routinely rejected without counteroffers, Hotwire was showing inventory in the $300-400+ range. Budget was $200/night max. Finally saw a $188 4* in the financial district pop up on Hot.wire for 8/10 (Sun) through 8/12 (Tues). Jumped over to Price.line to try to score the same listing but with a lower bid. First bid of $175 was accepted so I guess I started too high, but am content with the result. We rejuggled our travel plans slightly and will be staying Sat night in Santa Clara instead of downtown SF (and will save a bundle of money).
