thereuare Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Each of these properties has very little information associated with it so it is difficult to gain too much insight as to which hotel each may be and have confidence in that guess... With the above noted, i don't have any guess for the first property... but for the second property my guess would be the Novotel Paris Les Halles. dederj Posted May 27, 2014 Author Report Posted May 27, 2014 For 5 Star Hotel, Louvre Museum area, from 26/09-30/09. The maximum bid would be 280,00. But first I would like to know if you have any guess for this hotel.Pet friendly, rate 9, median retail price 326. Thank you!
thereuare Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 I'm seeing a 5* hotel in the OQE-Louvre zone on PRICELINE EXPRESS with only a Pets Allowed amenity, but it's priced at $656/nite. Even at $326/nite ($310 with the discount link and code in my signature) are you willing to go over over your $280/nite budget? dederj Posted May 27, 2014 Author Report Posted May 27, 2014 Sorry, i think i didn't make myself clear. I started asking about the priceline express deal , but today when i was checking the rates again I put to name your own price deals. I chose only the oqe-louvre area, chose only 5 star hotels. When I choose these options it says that the median retail price for 5 stars at this area would be u$326. Any guess for a 5 star hotel at this area? how much should I start bidding?thanks
thereuare Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Ignore the 'retail' price shown by PRICELINE as it's not meaningful to your bidding. Note that the amenities shown next to each star rating on the bidding side of PRICELINE are not amenities for a specific hotel that you're bidding on, but rather amenities that are offered at every hotel in the zone at that star rating. Price.line hasn't even checked inventory for your dates at this point in the bidding process, but they can show the 'guaranteed amenity' since they know that every hotel in the zone at this star rating currently offers this amenity. The Grand Hotel Du Palais Royal, Citadines Suites Louvre Paris, Hotel De Nell, and W Paris Opera would all be possible 5* hotels in this zone, but there could be others as well. With PRICELINE EXPRESS as $600+ (and HOTWIRE nearly $500) for a 5* hotel in this zone, i don't think $280 has a high probability of success, but if you want to give it a try: When bidding 5* in Paris you have FIFTEEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 5* OQE-Louvre... Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $250, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $260, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $265, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $270, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $275, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $280 Any questions feel free to ask. dederj Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 Need to book 3 rooms in Paris from 25/09-30/09. PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal Jardin des Tuileries 4*: pet friendly, free internet, shuttle, bed choice score 8+, guest favorite 227/night- when I search for 1 room Express Deal jardin des Tuilleries4*: free internet, bed choice, score 8+ guest favorite 312/night- when I search for 3 rooms Any idea??? I am considering to try to book using name your own price, but I have some concerns. I would like to avoid Residhome and Opera Pavillon. The hotels on name your own price are the same as express deal?Do you think that the hotel availabe on name your own price is 8 + score ?? If I start bidding on 5* and after that change for the 4* do I have more chances to get the westin or westminster? thanks
thereuare Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I am considering to try to book using name your own price...Did you try any of the 5* bidding that you previously requested? The bidding side of PRICELINE, PRICELINE EXPRESS, and the 'retail' side of PRICELINE all use a different universe of hotels, there is a lot of overlap, but some hotels participate in on side of their service but not another side... you can't use what is showing on one side of their service to determine what you will get when using one of the other sides of their service; when bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. Please think about which service is best for your needs and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dederj Posted August 1, 2014 Author Report Posted August 1, 2014 I tried the 5* bibbing for Champs Elysees / Opera -Louvre/ Jardin des Tuileries area many times without success. I went until 290.I was planning to bid for a 4* at Jardin des Tuillerie area because I thought that I'd probably get the same hotel on the express deal(most of the hotels offered has 8+ score) for a better price. Is it possible to win a hotel on the name your own price or express deal and if the hotel is not showing on the regular list?Another Thing: If I buy a hotel using express deal with 8+ score, I'll get a hotel over 8 score, right?! 7.9 is considered 8.0,right? Thanks
Romelle Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Speaking from personal experience, it is possible to win a NYOP hotel not on the current Hotel Lists here. I have to admit, I'm usually hoping for that as I think it is fun to get to add a new hotel to the lists. Some have been smaller, less tourist-frequented cities, but I also got new hotels in Budapest and Edinburgh. No, I don't think "8+" means 7.9. I think "8+" means 8.0 and higher. Romelle
thereuare Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Is it possible to win a hotel on the name your own price or express deal and if the hotel is not showing on the regular list? See my previous reply: The bidding side of PRICELINE, PRICELINE EXPRESS, and the 'retail' side of PRICELINE all use a different universe of hotels, there is a lot of overlap, but some hotels participate in on side of their service but not another side... you can't use what is showing on one side of their service to determine what you will get when using one of the other sides of their service...So in short, you CAN receive a hotel from PRICELINE EXPRESS (or from bidding) that is not shown in the 'retail' listings. PRICELINE even includes the following on the purchase page for PRICELINE EXPRESS hotels: The hotel that is booked may or may not be one that you have seen during a hotel search on priceline. Another Thing: If I buy a hotel using express deal with 8+ score, I'll get a hotel over 8 score, right?! 7.9 is considered 8.0,right?I would think that 8.0 means 8.0+ and that 7.9 would not be included in a hotel that showed an 8.0 rating. HOWEVER, the rating information may not be updated in realtime (i'm not certain) so it's possible that something has recently fallen to 7.9 and PRICELINE EXPRESS is still showing 8.0+. In this situation i think you would have a good argument to get PRICELINE to cancel the reservation, but i can't say how they would handle it nor how much of a hassle it would be to do so. dederj Posted August 11, 2014 Author Report Posted August 11, 2014 I end up bidding, and selected a 4* Hotel on Opera quarter/ Jardin du Tuilleries. I had the stupid idea to bid a higher amount to see if I could get a better hotel. Started with 220 and It was accepted. It was not the deal I was looking for, but It's part of the game. Thanks for the help!!
AaronJB Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Bidding higher does risk overbidding for the same property that would have likely been won at a lower rate. Sorry to hear that the result is a disappointment, but hope the hotel will work well for your travel plans. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
