AJBJ Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Hello all, My brother and I are planning a trip to Boston in November to see the Patriots/Broncos. Doing some searching, Price.line seems to have some pretty good deals on flight+hotel packages, but is there any way to ensure a room with two beds? For example I can book a return flight and 4 nights at Seaport Boston hotel for $927.18, but there's no indication whether the room would have two beds. Is there a site that allows me to specify I'm searching for two beds? Any other tips/tools I might consider? Thanks very much in advance.
thereuare Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Please follow-up your previous Priceline Seattle thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip, as well as provide an update to your Hotwire Victoria thread with your current thoughts/decision for that trip, then reply here and we'll have a look at your post above. AJBJ Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 Cheers, I've posted a brief follow-up to those two previous threads. I've also done a bit more research on the Boston trip, and the same package can be booked through Orbitz for $1052 pp, and includes the option to book two doubles. I'm leaning towards this way at the moment, though any advice to the contrary is certainly appreciated.
AaronJB Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 So that we can also research options, please provide date/s of travel and departure destination. If you search for vacation packages and then click the "choose" button on a listing, do you see room types? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
AJBJ Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 When I "choose" the hotel, I get one option, pre-selected for Room Types: "Room Rates are based on the number of travelers in your party and are backed by our Best Price Guarantee" and then the only option is selected and says: "Included: Best Package Rate: will comfortably sleep up to two people" We are planning on leaving Vancouver (YVR) the morning of Nov.1, and return the evening of Nov. 5th. Cheers.
thereuare Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 To clarify... That $792 rate is per person which would be ~$1600 total all-in. Looking at costs 'ala carte'... Airfare i'm seeing $385/pp RT thru conventional booking channels, which would leave $1130 all-in for a hotel room for 4 nites PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the Copley Square - Back Bay zone for $233/nite which indicates 2 beds in the room... this comes to $1100 all-in, and gives a little savings over the Seaport hotel you referenced, let's you choose your flight times, and gives you a more centrally located hotel (and a significant savings over the Orbitz deal you referenced) You could also search HOTWIRE for a hotel and select 2adults/1child which should ensure two separate sleeping accommodations in the room, although the second 'bed' could be a rollaway brought into the room, a pullout sofabed, etc. If this is acceptable HOTWIRE has some 4* options within your budget as well. You don't need to necessarily go with the PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE offer(s) presented above, but it's an example how you can put your 'deal' together on your own by combining traditional airfare with an opaque hotel and come out ahead of most packages. AJBJ Posted July 17, 2014 Author Report Posted July 17, 2014 I appreciate the feedback and advice. I'll look into these and let you know how what we decided to go with. One question: If I were to search opaque hotels for 2 + 1 child, will I run into any problems checking in with the just to the two of us, or alternatively, might there be additional fees for the "extra" person? Cheers!
