aseems86 Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 Hello, thank you for forum and great advice. Looking through link of forum; see priceline express deal for 225$, dates friday-sunday. Area South Beach Collins Avenue Beachfront; amenity list: Free Internet in public areas Outdoor Swimming Pool Pets Allowed Restaurant rating : 7.0 any ideas? Looking at lists from forum: only 4.5 is the james royal palm, and loews miami beach hotel would be thrilled with either; do not see similar in winning bid tracker. Advice appreciated thank you.

aseems86 Posted July 9, 2014 Author Report Posted July 9, 2014 thank you for help. Deal is now down to 217$ (save 20% or more). In the amenity list a fitness center/gym is not listed, however the james royal palm has a gym?? Thoughts? The Free Wifi seems to fit however. Also, there is a 19$ daily fee outside of the priceline price to be paid directly to the hotel that suggests a resort fee (james?). Calling The James they say their resort fee is 21$/d. Also the priceline express deal mentions pet fee of 75$, which again calling james their pet fee is 75$. Please offer your opinions on the resort fee not matching and gym detail not matching. What i have a question about is that there is also a 4* South Beach Collins Avenue Oceanfront (245$)(save 45% of more). User rating 7.0 Amenity list:Outdoor PoolPets AllowedFitness CenterBusiness Center Any idea on this hotel? It seems to be a much more substantial discount %, and I am curious why a 4* in the same area is 245 and the 4.5* 217$. If you could please let me know your opinion on if there are any 4.5* in South Beach Collins Avenue Oceanfront other than The James Royal Palm and Loews Hotel? I am preparing to buy through link soon. Thanks for help.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 In the amenity list a fitness center/gym is not listed, however the james royal palm has a gym??Hotels need to have the amenities listed, but don't need to list all the amenities they have... there are plenty of examples of hotels having an amenity that they do not (for whatever reason) list in PRICELINE EXPRESS (or HOTWIRE). Also, there is a 19$ daily fee outside of the priceline price to be paid directly to the hotel that suggests a resort fee (james?). Calling The James they say their resort fee is 21$/d.Could have recently gone up, one may be pre-tax the other post-tax, etc... it's "close enough", imo. What i have a question about is that there is also a 4* South Beach Collins Avenue Oceanfront (245$)(save 45% of more). User rating 7.0... Any idea on this hotel?A guess would be The Shore Club. It seems to be a much more substantial discount %, and I am curious why a 4* in the same area is 245 and the 4.5* 217$.The rate that is being compared to for the savings is not necessarily for the hotel offered, it's for a hotel of that star rating in the zone for your dates, but not necessarily the PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel currently offered. As far as the 4* costing more than the 4.5*, each hotel sets their rates based upon their own occupancy levels (supply vs. demand). Take the following example for a given nite: Hotel A is a 3* property and has a wedding with a lot of out of town guests as well as a business meeting for a large corporation they are hosting, and they are at 95% occupancy and only have a few rooms left. Hotel B is a 4.5* property and has no events going on for the same nite, there are no events taking place in the area, and they are at 50% occupancy. ==> in the above scenario, Hotel B could easily discount their rates substantially while Hotel A offers very little (or no) discount... making Hotel B less expensive even though it is higher rated. If you could please let me know your opinion on if there are any 4.5* in South Beach Collins Avenue Oceanfront other than The James Royal Palm and Loews Hotel? There could be (see our comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List... but my guess for the 4.5* above is The James.
