Alfe Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Looking at long Beach, one night 04/20/2006. 4* will bid $50 or $60. any strategy? :)
blindman Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Thereuare will be along shortly to give you a strategy, I'm sure. What are the rates for that date at the hotels most likely to appear on PL?4* means that you'll have 3 free rebids.Just a note, if you have a car then parking will be an extra $9-11 per day.
thereuare Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Is $60 your maximum bid? What is the most you are willing to bid for a 4* hotel? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Alfe Posted November 24, 2005 Author Report Posted November 24, 2005 Yah OK, $60 does sound too low for a 4*. I would go as high as $75 (thats $88 in Cdn funds). I am from Victoria BC. Cheers on your thanksgiving ! Ours was last month. :)
thereuare Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 At the 4* level you have 3 re-bid zones availabe (read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained if you are not familiar with re-bidding... feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your zones if you're unsure)Select 4* Long Beach...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Long Beach and re-bid zone3...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $75.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Alfe Posted November 24, 2005 Author Report Posted November 24, 2005 Thank you "Thereuare". I followed your directions through savingsbarn.com/PricelineI was told there was nothing for the first 3 bids you mentioned. then when I brought up the browser again to start the second half of your instructions, I was told "Sorry, this is a duplicate bid"So, I guesse I wait 72 hours now eh?
thereuare Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 For the 4th bid, are you bidding 4* Long Beach and re-bid zone3 (the re-bid zone you have not yet used in the previous 3 bids)? Alfe Posted November 24, 2005 Author Report Posted November 24, 2005 OH, I get it now, 4* Long Beach plus zone 3, add new bid, then add zone 1 etc..however, I was rejected on each, right up to a bid of $75. I need to wait 72 Hrs now and try again with higher bid or lower my star rating. I am starting to understand now after reading this forum for 3 days. I still do not understand how to bid on Hotwire :)
thereuare Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 There is no bidding on Hotwire... they show you the area, star rating, amenities that the hotel has, and price... but not the name (that is only shown after you agree to purchase).See this thread for the similarities/difference of each service: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
