I'm looking for a 1 night stay in Reno probably July 12-13. I'd really prefer not to spend more than $50 with taxes and fees since this is a bit of a throwaway trip so my boyfriend and I can escape life for a night. I am thinking/shooting for JA Nugget. I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal yesterday for $33 (52 after taxes/fees) so I could probably get it for lower on name your own, right?

Does anyone have any suggestions on a bidding strategy?

Yes, you can try undercut the PRICELINE EXPRESS price by bidding.

If you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night before tax/fees, zone(s) you're willing to stay in and the star rating for the hotel.

But have in mind that you can't bid on or avoid a specific hotel when using PRICE.LINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.

Please use the PRICELINE and hot.wire links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.

thanks Yellowdog. I really don't have a preference on the zone. I would like 3.5*+ and anywhere is good as long as it's in Reno. There's only 3 zones and all of them have 3.5 and above hotels. That makes free rebids nearly impossible, I think, which is why I was hoping for tips on a bidding strategy.

If I could score something for $25 that would be amazing but $30 seems more reasonable and probably my cap since taxes and fees add another $20 and I can't afford to go over $50/night

I would like 3.5*+ and anywhere is good as long as it's in Reno.

Not clear... is the Sparks zone considered 'in Reno'?

If all three zones are acceptable you could try:

Select 3.5* Reno...

Bid $25, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Airport...

Bid $25, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Sparks...

Bid $25, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Reno and Airport...

Bid $28, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Reno and Sparks...

Bid $28, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Reno, Airport, Sparks...

Bid $30

If the above fails, PRICELINE EXPRESS does have this 3.5* Sparks hotel (double check your dates on the landing page) for $36/nite and you have just over 2 hours left to use the discount code and link in my signature which will take this property, including a mandatory resort fee, to $55 all-in... this would look to be your best bet if you're able to extend your budget by an extra $5.

So for whatever reason, the hotel rate jumped from $33 last week to $36 the next day and yesterday jumped to $53. I'm going to wait and see if the rate drops again but I doubt it. Even the one stars are now listing a rate at $42... D: I'm not finding anything elsewhere any cheaper either. Drat drat double drat.

Hah! I checked HOTWIRE just on the off chance that they'd have the $33 deal now since Priceline.express had dropped it and YES, they DID, for the premier tower. Booked it immediately. With taxes and fees it was $44, and there's a $7 resort fee but I'm so happy. This is the hotel I wanted and I got into the Premier Tower. Stoked. It pays to check both sites!
