Priceline Hotel: 3* New York City Airports (LGA) Laguardia Plaza Hotel

I'm trying to decide if I should go with a Priceline.Express deal or if I should do Name Your Own Price.

I am looking at a 2.5* in the LGA/Flushing area and I *think* it may end up being the Clarion (which I'm OK with since I am on a budget). The Express Deal feature shows a 2.5* with the following amenties for $112/night:

Free Breakfast

Free Internet

Free Parking

Business Center

Fitness Center

*Bed selection available

The guest rating says 8.0-Guest Favorite but I'm not sure if that is reliable (Clarion has a 5+ rating, Fairfield Inn has an 8.0).

I would like to try NYOP for a lower price but I don't want to end up with something like the Laguardia Airport Hotel (if that is an option). In 2011 (?) I used NYOP to snag Fairfield Inn Astoria for $75 a night but it doesn't seem like anyone else has been able to a similar deal since then (or they didn't report back LOL).

Any advice?

With the 8+ rating, I'd guess the Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn.

If you do not want to stay in LIC, I would not bid in the Long Island City zone.

Thank you.

LIC is not listed as a zone. I'd like to try to avoid it altogether but I'm not sure where PL would categorize it. Here are the zones for Queens, NY:

Bayside

Elmhurst-Corona

Flushing-Whitestone

Jamaica

JFK

LGA

Any thoughts?

Your hotel will be located within the shaded boundaries of the zone(s) that you select... Long Island City is not included within the boundaries of the LGA zone so you won't receive a hotel there.

I'm' not sure just how tight your budget is, but if you're fine with a 2.5* hotel i would first try bidding for Manhattan where you may be able to get a 2.5* property within $20 or so more, which i think is worth it for the better location and being directly in Manhattan.

So how do you want to proceed... with the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above OR bidding for this hotel?

If bidding on PRICELINE, what is your desired star rating and maximum bid?

I'm so tempted to just take the Express deal but I think I will try bidding anyway for a 2.5* starting at $75. It seems like Laguardia Plaza Hotel is a pretty common win at the 3* level but I stayed there once and did not enjoy my stay.

I'm too impatient. I took PL up on their offer to increase my bid by $21 to $96 and Laguardia Plaza Hotel accepted. It'll be fine. I have a place to sleep for my trip and it's under $1000. Thanks all!
