fjh225 Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Good Afternoon! My dates are from July 17th (arrival) to July 22nd (departure) for 1 adult. Looking through Hotwire, I'm attempting to catch a 3.5* or 4* for around $150 in MTC, TS, UWS, MTE, or MSG, and just need some help identifying the following; 1. Hotel in Times Square area. 3.5 stars. Current price is $149 (original $229).80% Hotwire recommended (39 total reviews). No TripAdvisor rating listed.Amenities:Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Business Center, Internet access, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility 2. Hotel in Madison Square Garden/Hell's Kitchen. 4 stars. Current price is $157 (original $208).70% Hotwire recommended (734 total reviews). 4 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor. Amenities:Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Golf Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower Also - I would be flexible in terms of when to purchase, so would it be prudent for me to consider looking in a week or two for more options/cheaper prices, or would that be a toss-up considering it is NYC? Or perhaps bidding via Priceline would be a better option? Thanks for helping out this newbie poster! :)
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. The 3.5* TS amenity set would be a possible match for the Row, while the 4* MSG would be a possible match for the Wyndham New Yorker. There is no way to know if rates will come down towards the last minute, although there have been less in the way of last minute price declines with the ramp in demand over the last few years. Rates can also suddenly move higher, as well. Price.line bidding is another option, with pros (generally slightly-to-moderately cheaper) and cons (when you choose a star rating and zone or zone/s to bid on, you have to be willing to stay at ANY hotel at that star rating in those zone/s.) Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 I will add that there is also THIS 4 star hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) in the MSG zone for $147/nite, but the discount link and code in my signature takes an extra 5% OFF bringing this will within your budget at $140/nite. My guess for this one would be the Wyndham New Yorker, but with so few (and common) amenities you can never be too confident in a guess. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
