ssentry Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 We're hoping to go to Montreal next week and would like to stay in the downtown area (city centre & convention centre). Ideally a 3.5 or 4* hotel. Only amenities we're looking for is parking and a pool, we're flexible on other items.Looking at the express deals and hotwire and not seeing any fabulous deals so I guess we should start bidding? Thanks for any help :) Forgot to say, I was hoping for something in the 100-150 range, do you think that's at all feasible? Also we're two adults and a toddler. I know there's a risk of only getting one bed but we're going to cross fingers we'll be able to get two doubles. So from what I'm seeing on Priceline there are three zones without 3.5 or higher (anjou, longuei, pointe) and three without 4 or higher (laval, dorval, midtown). So can someone help me figure out a bidding strategy based on this info? Thanks so much :)
thereuare Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 So from what I'm seeing on Priceline there are three zones without 3.5 or higher (anjou, longuei, pointe) and three without 4 or higher (laval, dorval, midtown).No... you have SIX re-bid zones at the 4* level... FOUR re-bid zones at the 3.5* level. Please give it another look and see if you can confirm the re-bid zones for each. Also, any change you recall what you did for each of your Priceline Times Square and Hotwire NYC trips? Please follow-up each of these previous threads with whatever you decide to do for each. ssentry Posted June 27, 2014 Author Report Posted June 27, 2014 I updated my old posts. OK so for 4* the rebid zones are anjou, longuei, pointe claire, dorval, laval, and midtown. And for 3.5* it's laval, dorval, pointe claire and anjou.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2014 Report Posted June 27, 2014 No, you don't have your re-bid zones correct. Try the following... 1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter Montreal and your dates, and click "GO". 2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above. 4) post your findings and we'll take it from there Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ssentry Posted June 27, 2014 Author Report Posted June 27, 2014 Hi, I tried what you suggested below but I guess I did something wrong if you're indicating I got the zones wrong. Here's what I found 1. Anjou - highest rating 2.5 2. Convention 4 3. Dorval 3.5 4. Downtown 5 5. Laval 3 6. Longueuil 3 7 Midtown 3.5 8. Pointe Clair 3 We'd like to stay in zone 2 or 4.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2014 Report Posted June 27, 2014 And for 3.5* it's laval, dorval, pointe claire and anjou.Dorval 3.5So if Dorval has 3.5* rated hotels... it wouldn't be a re-bid zone at the 3.5* level, right? (if you don't agree or are confused just post back and we'll break it down further) The star ratings you listed next to each zone are correct, so using this information, can you confirm the SIX re-bid zones you have at the 4* level... and the FOUR re-bid zones you have at the 3.5* level? ssentry Posted June 29, 2014 Author Report Posted June 29, 2014 Right. So 6 rebid zones for 4* are anjou, dorval, midtown, laval, longueuil, pointe claire. And for 3.5* they're Anjou, Laval, Longueuil, and pointe claire.
Romelle Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 You've got the rebid zones right this time, but do always reconfirm just before bidding. One thing ... in your first post you mentioned wanting a pool and parking. With bidding, those amenities won't necessarily be included? Romelle
thereuare Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 One thing ... in your first post you mentioned wanting a pool and parking. With bidding, those amenities won't necessarily be included?Good point! Would you be OK if the hotel didn't include a pool and/or free parking?
