bakerc Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Hi,I need a bidding/re-bid strategy for San Diego on 7/11 - 7/12 for one night. This is my first time trying this site!! I am looking for a nicer (4 or 5 star) hotel at a good price. I want a nice place to stay for our anniversary. Here is the list of areas I would like in order. Hoping to get for somewhere between $100 & 125 if that is reasonable. 1) La Jolla2)Gas Lamp Quarter3) Gas Lamp quarter south4) Downtown - Harbor Island5)Downtown - Marina
thereuare Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! To confirm, are you willing to pay more to stay in your first choice of zone vs. your second choice vs. your third choice, etc, etc. OR is the goal the least expensive 4* or better for this stay? For example, i think you can likely get something in the Downtown-Marina zone for $110 or less... would this be more/less desirable vs. a 4* for $125 in one of your more top choice of zones? Please confirm the above and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bakerc Posted June 26, 2014 Author Report Posted June 26, 2014 I would be willing to pay a little more to stay in the La Jolla zone and if that doesn't work the downtown-Marina area would be fine as well. Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 Currently a 4* in the La Jolla zone will likely run about $130-$150/nite... how high are you willing to for a 4* hotel in this zone before considering other zones? bakerc Posted June 26, 2014 Author Report Posted June 26, 2014 I would be willing to go up to $130 before hitting another zone.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2014 Report Posted June 27, 2014 Sorry for the delay... When bidding 4* in the San Diego region you have TWELVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 4* La Jolla... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130 Any questions feel free to ask. If the above if rejected, do you then want to try again for any of your five acceptable zones? bakerc Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 Did get rejected on those unfortunately. thanks for your help. I would like to try the downtown-Marina area. Could you give me a strategy on that one? Thanks for your time. .
thereuare Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 I would like to try the downtown-Marina area. The previous offer i saw for $110 is no longer available. Since Downtown-Marina was originally your least favorite of the acceptable zones, do you want to try for all FIVE zone up to $125 (or $130)? Please confirm how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bakerc Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 I actually used some of the above strategies and went ahead and worked on a downtown hotel. I got the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina for $100 per night! I have stayed downtown before and it was always a minimum of $200. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you scored a great deal at this property and are pleased with the results.
