Mac1 Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 I am going to a conference at the Las Vegas convention center. I would like a hotel near the center or Strip south. Something like LVH. Is this something I can get a good deal on through PRICELINE or should I stick with the hotels advertised through the conference? edit; I just noticed that the Price.line rooms are double occupancy only. Can I not bid on these rooms since I'm staying alone? Sorry, I'm really new to Priceline in general!
yellowdog Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please post your date(s) for this upcoming trip. I would like a hotel near the center or Strip south. Something like LVH. Is this something I can get a good deal on through priceline or should I stick with the hotels advertised through the conference? If you're OK with booking opaque and happy with the PRICELINE zones would I take this route. If knowing the name is important for you can you always go with HOTWIRE. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive. I just noticed that the Priceline rooms are double occupancy only. Can I not bid on these rooms since I'm staying alone? No problem, what PRICELINE says with this is that they only guarantees double occupancy, after that is at the discretion of the hotel... if you are less than double occupancy (ie- only one person) that is not an issue. What is your budget/night before tax/fee's? What are the dates of your stay? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* hotel or you just want to get the cheapest one? Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 I am going to a conference at the Las Vegas convention center. I would like a hotel near the center or Strip south. Something like LVH.NOTE that the LVH isn't in the Center Strip nor the Strip South zone... but it is near the Convention Center. Is your goal to be centrally located (for exploring Vegas and 'hotel hopping' to see the attractions at each property) OR are you trying to be as close as possible to the Convention Center? Mac1 Posted June 18, 2014 Author Report Posted June 18, 2014 Dates: June 26-July 2 (I know this may be too close to get any good deals) Budget: About $75/night. $100 max. Location: There will be shuttles from the strip to the convention center, so I think being centrally located is better. I don't care about the name, as long as it's in the right location.
thereuare Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 You have quite a bit of options within your budget, so let's start with some things that caught my eye and we'll take it from there based upon your feedback/preferences: Treasure Island - $72/nite NYNY (likely) - $84/nite Either of the above of interest... or you could simply bid on a hotel on PRICELINE for the Strip South (and Strip North??) zones. Your thoughts on the above two or bidding? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Unfortuantely that property is no longer appearing when i search and has been replaced by what i believe is the Monte Carlo.. any interest in this property OR some other offer? I will add that there are some 5* hotels currently being offered for $110-120/nite and these would be a pretty big jump in quality vs. any of the 4* hotels (although just a bit over your target budget) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Your thoughts at this point? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Mac1 Posted June 18, 2014 Author Report Posted June 18, 2014 Actually, I was looking into the "fine print" on the conference registration, and realized that the resort fees are waived if you book through the conference. I think with that, Price.line won't be a better deal. So I think I'm not going to proceed at this point, but thank you for the help! I will definitely try Price.line next time I travel (hopefully for pleasure instead of business!)
