dwerneck Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 I am going to NYC and I've been looking for 4* ou more Hotel in Manhattan. It can be Upper east or west side, Midtown Central Area, Midtown East Area, Times Square. My priorities are comfort and localization (nearby subway station). I am planning to spend US$ 180,00/night. (Is it a good price or too low for a 4*?)Is there any area in Manhattan that I should avoid?!Please, avoid to put abbreviations (MTE MTW TS MSG ESB CPS) - I dont know what some of them mean! Check in: Aug, 21 2014Check out: Aug, 29 2014 Sorry about english mistakes! ;)
AaronJB Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Central Park South should be avoided at the 4* level because of the Hudson, which has very small rooms (even by NYC standards), Midtown East (The OneUN is at the far E border of the zone.) There is no way to guarantee being *right* by a subway. If you bid, you have to be willing to stay anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone that you select. HOTWIRE would be a better choice if you want to have the possibility of trying to make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing and have a better chance at knowing what hotel you may get/where it may be in the zone. I'm seeing a 4* in Midtown E on HOTWIRE w/:Pet friendly,Fitness Center,Restaurant(s),Business Center,Internet access,Tennis Nearby,Spa Services,Accessible for the blind,Accessible for the deaf,Accessible path of travel,In-room accessibility,Accessible bathroom,Handicapped parking,Roll-in shower That amenity set would be a possible match for the Intercontinental Barclay. There are a number of other options within your budget, that is just one example. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 I will add that in addition to the InterContinental Barclay, i'm seeing what looks to be the Tryp for $162/nite, which (if correct) gets very good reviews and a 4.5/5.0 TA rating. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know if either of these are of interest and how it goes or how you would like to proceed. PS- please also add the amenities to your previous Hotwire DC thread. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dwerneck Posted June 15, 2014 Author Report Posted June 15, 2014 PS- please also add the amenities to your previous Hotwire DC thread. Its done! Thanks!
AaronJB Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Would the well-reviewed Tryp or Intercontinental Barclay listings mentioned be of any interest? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
dwerneck Posted June 16, 2014 Author Report Posted June 16, 2014 I just have gotten The Lexington New York City on HOT.WIRE. Check in: Aug, 21 2014 Check out: Aug, 29 2014 Price: US$ 160,00 Total: US$ 1582,91 (8 nights / Taxes included) Amenities: Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower 85% of approval Not so happy with the hotel. Its look like a good hotel, nearby subway station, well evaluated but the rooms are too small. Maybe, even for NYC. I would expect a better place! But, lets enjoy NYC! Thank guys for help!
AaronJB Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Very good win for this property, which was renovated not that long ago (this was previously a Radisson.) I'm seeing the smaller queen rooms at this property at 214 sq ft, which is on the big side (or at the very least bigger than average) as NYC goes. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
thereuare Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 I will also add you're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers. Have a great trip! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
