Scott2.0 Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 9/20-9/21 $191.00 on Hotwire and $183.00 on Bidding Helper Easy View(?)Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Business Center, Internet access Holiday Inn Express? Any ideas? Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 A property with this exact amenity set has not yet been reported to the board, the Holiday Inn Express New York Manhattan West Side and the Best Western Convention Center Hotel both seem likely candidates. These would be my best guess, but with so few amenities showing and no other information provided by HOTWIRE, i wouldn't be too surprised if it was something else. I'm seeing higher rated hotels (ie- a 4* for $20 more per nite) which is a pretty good value for a big jump in star rating, what is your maximum budget and goal(s) for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. PS- please follow-up your previous Hotwire Palm Springs thread with whatever you ultimately decided to do for that stay. Scott2.0 Posted May 21, 2014 Author Report Posted May 21, 2014 Thanks for the reply. No set budget but it will be a one-night crash pad before leaving on a cruise the next morning. We get in late, so I'm not too concerned with the star rating, but would like to stay in Hell's Kitchen to be walking distance from the cruise terminal. The 4* hotel that's only slightly more has only a 70% recommended rating, so that concerns me a bit.
AaronJB Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 The listing that I'm seeing at the 4* level in this zone w/70% approval would be a possible match for the Wyndham New Yorker. I think the thought that I have would be that if you are looking for primarily just a place to sleep and would be okay with anywhere in the zone, you may want to consider bidding instead on PRICELINE - there is a 7% off coupon in my signature that ends tonight. There is both an MSG and Hell's Kitchen zone on Price.line - very few hotels fall within the latter. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Scott2.0 Posted May 21, 2014 Author Report Posted May 21, 2014 Maybe I'll do that. Good call. The Wyndham doesn't look nice at all. I'd love the Holiday Inn Express Manhattan West or the Comfort Inn Midtown West so I could just walk across the street to the cruise terminal. I may just book directly with one of those since I'd be upset with the Best Western Conference Center.
thereuare Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 The cruise ship terminal is not very centrally located and there isn't much around (in terms of 'the city') so i would only stay near the terminal if you are solely using the hotel as a place to sleep and not looking to explore the city at all. You can also try our sister site Pre Cruise Hotels to see hotels near the pier as well as what is nearby each hotel. If you do choose to book direct, please check for and use the links in our Support Page where we have links to most of the major hotel chains and online booking agencies, including the Holiday Inn Express and Comfort Inn. Scott2.0 Posted May 21, 2014 Author Report Posted May 21, 2014 Thanks, I'll check out the Pre Cruise Hotels hotel site. I will be in the city and the room for a total of eight hours, including sleeping so not being close to NYC attractions doesn't bother me much.
AaronJB Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 Definitely let us know what you decide and if you have additional questions. If you are only going to be in the city for several hours, I'd definitely consider bidding - you might not be right by the port, but the savings versus paying full price can be put towards a taxi and on the cruise. Scott2.0 Posted June 9, 2014 Author Report Posted June 9, 2014 9/20-9/21$234 on Easy View, $238 on HotwireFree Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower Seems to be a solid deal, in the area I want (close-ish to the cruise terminal) and 95% recommended. Any ideas? TIA!
AaronJB Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Given the 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating showing when I click and go to the detail page, my guess would be the Tryp. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Scott2.0 Posted June 9, 2014 Author Report Posted June 9, 2014 Tryp it is! Really happy with the deal. Thanks!
