Ahmed1111 Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Hello, I'm searching Mykonos, Greece, for the dates 31-July-2014 to 3-August-2014 (3 nights). There is an offer for $598/night in Platis Gialos area for a 5 star hotel. When I checked the list, only one hotel is there: Palladium Hotel Am I guaranteed to get it? Also, the cheapest room type in the list is a Superior Suite. Am I getting that too? Or would I get a room even though only suites are listed for this hotel? Thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 'retail' and 'opaque' side of HOTWIRE each use a different universe of hotels, so you can't use the retail side of their service to determine what you will get from the opaque side of their service. Unless otherwise noted, HOTWIRE (and PRICELINE) reservations are for 'standard' rooms, although upgrades and better room assignments to occur from time to time, this isn't something that should be expected. Are you willing to pay $600/nite for a room this trip? What are your goals for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know if you do decide to go for the above or how we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Ahmed1111 Posted June 8, 2014 Author Report Posted June 8, 2014 Thanks for the timely reply. No I'm certainly not willing to pay $600 for a room in this trip, not to mention a room in a hotel that I don't know. How sure are you that the 'retail' and 'opaque' sides of Hotwire use different universe of hotels? Is it stated somewhere in their website? Or from experience? Did it happen ever that an opaque hotel with a certain star rating was later revealed to be an hotel with a lower star rating in the 'retail' side? Thanks again mate.
thereuare Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ (it equally applies to HOTWIRE) regarding using the 'retail' side to determine what you will get on the 'opaque' side. Some properties do of course participate in both sides of their service, so there is obviously overlap, but not all hotels on the retail side participate on the opaque side, and vice-versa. If you let us know the area(s), star rating, and amount per nite that you are willing to pay for this trip we can try to be of further help. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
