cort43202 Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 I'm looking for help identifying the following hotel for a stay 3/7/15. It's listed as a 4 star with a rate of $360 and is available for $194. I'm looking in the Condado area. I've stayed at the Marriott Stellaris previously and would love to stay there again but am afraid of bidding and getting the Sheraton Convention Center. Amenities Casino Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Tennis Nearby Spa ServicesAccessibility Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel Thank you for your help.
yellowdog Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Is this for a one night stay only? I can't get the same hotel to appear on my standard search for 2 adults. How many rooms/adults/children did you search for? Can you please run a new search and confirm that you still can see this hotel on your search. Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer. Please use the PRICELINE and hot.wire links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. Yellowdog.
cort43202 Posted June 7, 2014 Author Report Posted June 7, 2014 My search was for 4 rooms and 2 people per room for 3/7/15. I did the search as you stated then filtered for Condado. I got one to come up for $194 and the amenities are: FULL AMENITIES: Casino, Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower Thanks for your help.
yellowdog Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 This is a match for previous reports of Marriott San Juan Resort and Stellaris Casino so that would be my best guess. Keep us updated on your progress and let us know what you ultimately decide or if we can be of further help. cort43202 Posted June 11, 2014 Author Report Posted June 11, 2014 I was trying to book this for three rooms but I ran into a problem in that two of the rooms were for 2 nights and the other was for one night. I called the Hotwire number to see if there was a way to book it this way but the only way it could be done was to run the search two separate ways and that brought up different amenities for the 1 night stay. Since all of us wanted to stay at the same hotel, I wasn't able to book this. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them, otherwise, thanks for your help.

cort43202 Posted June 11, 2014 Author Report Posted June 11, 2014 March 6 & 7 (two nights) for two rooms, 2 adults in each roomMarch 7 (one night) for one room, 2 adultsSan Juan, PR - Condado Area4 Star rating (I think that's what I searched) Thanks
thereuare Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Is everyone staying at the same hotel a must have or a want? (if unable to get the same hotel on two separate purchases will everyone book thru conventional booking channels??) cort43202 Posted June 11, 2014 Author Report Posted June 11, 2014 Staying at the same hotel is a must and as you say, if we can't get the same hotel through Hotwire on two separate purchases, we'll book conventionally. If I remember correctly the Hilton Condado is $249 so that is most likely where we'll wind up if this doesn't work out.
thereuare Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 So what i was thinking... Book 3 rooms for Mar 6-8, which would be 6 rooms nites (vs. 5 rooms nites if you were to book 2rooms/2nites and 1room/1nite) HOTWIRE currently has a 4* hotel in the Condado zone (with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating) for $180/nite. $180 x 6room nites = $1080 $250 x 5room nites = $1250 The HOTWIRE offer has the following amenities: Free Internet Resort Near Beach Casino Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Deaf Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking ... best guess for this one would be the La Concha. (and should it not be this property, with the 4.5/5.0 TA rating it would be higher rated than the Hilton) Your thoughts? cort43202 Posted June 12, 2014 Author Report Posted June 12, 2014 Great idea. That's why you're running the website. I'll check with the others and see if they agree. I'll update what we decide. Thanks again.

cort43202 Posted June 13, 2014 Author Report Posted June 13, 2014 After all this, we've decided to book 3 rooms for two nights as you suggested. Could you give me your best guess what hotel this is based on the amenities. I did the search through BB and then clicked on the Hotwire tab. It sounds like the La Concha as you mentioned previously but a couple of the amenities are listed differently this time. FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Resort, Near Beach, Casino, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking March 6 & 7 - San Juan Condado - 6 adults Thank you for your help. Hopefully this is the last time.
thereuare Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Yes, this one would appear to be the La Concha and that would be my best guess. cort43202 Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 Finally got around to booking this using the BetterBidding Helper and got each room for $178/night not including resort fee of $10/person/night and taxes. As you said based on the full amenities, it wound up being the La Concha. Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it.
cort43202 Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 I do have one additional question. When booking this, the hotwire site said that taxes/fees/resort fees may be collected by the hotel and when I got my confirmation email, there was a charge for tax recovery but there was a statement that the resort fee would be collected by the hotel. This doesn't make any sense because when I look at the total cost for booking on Hotwire vs La Concha's site it seems like they are "double" charging for the resort fee. Hotwire - $178/night and $61 tax and fees/night and the statement that they would collect $10/person in resort fees at the hotelLa Concha - $299/night and $93 tax and resort fee/night I would expect the La Concha tax and resort charge to be higher because of the tax % being applied to a higher rate. At 15% tax rate (not sure what San Juan charges, just making a guess) the difference in tax between $178 and $299 is $20. It seems to me that through Hotwire, I've been charged the full tax and fees and shouldn't have to pay any additional at the hotel but I'm not sure how to prove that or that I am correct. Your thoughts?
thereuare Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 The HOTWIRE amount is for taxes and fees, which includes their booking fee. The resort fee will still need to be paid directly to the hotel. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
cort43202 Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 Thanks for the reply. It appears that I've still saved 36% vs if I had booked directly with the hotel.
