I am travelling to SF for vacation from September 03, 2014 to September 09, 2014. I have never been to SF and I am unfamiliar with the hotel market there. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide, including bidding strategy, price expectations, recommended neighborhoods, etc. Additional details: I will be in SF as a tourist looking for typical tourist attractions/activities/neighborhoods. At first look it would appear that the best zones for my stay will be USW, USE, Japantown, or Financial District. Also acceptable (although somewhat less desirable from a location standpoint) are Civic Centre South, Fisherman's Wharf, and SOMA. Please let me know if there are neighborhoods included in these options that I should avoid for safety or desirability reasons. I would like to spend no more than $125 per night for the six night stay. Obviously I want the *best* hotel available for this price, but I would appreciate reasonable expectations for what I should be bidding on. I am not interested in wasting my time trying for a 4.5* when my price range will limit me to a 3*. I will not have a vehicle, and will be relying on public transit. I think you're $125 budget will likely put you close to the 3* range, but at current rates not a 'sure thing', and it may even require just a little more. We can start at the 3* level for your first choice in zones (USW, USE, Japantown, or Financial District) and if rejected then look to add the secondary group of zones (Civic Centre South, Fisherman's Wharf, and SOMA) OR see if you want to increase your budget a little or lower your star rating. Others local to the area can feel free to chime in regarding zones, but i do know that the USW zone tends to have a bit of visible homelessness and panhandlers. I'm not aware of any 'known' safety issues, but some visitors who are not used to seeing homelessness in their own town may feel a bit uneasy in this type of environment, so you'll have to decide if this is an issue for you or not. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed, and if the USW should be included or not, and we'll advise accordingly. I am also unwilling to go above $125 per night at this time. My preferred zones, in order, are as follows: 1. Union Square East - Nob Hill2. Financial District - Embarcadero3. Japan Town - Civic Center North If I am unable to obtain a hotel within my $125 budget in these zones, my second tier (but still acceptable) zones, in order, are as follows: 4. SOMA - Moscone Center5. Civic Center South - Hayes Valley6. Fisherman's Wharf If I am still unable to obtain a hotel within my $125 budget in any of the above zones, I would be willing to add Union Square West. Are you able to assist with a bidding strategy?
