1701ePicard Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Hello Everyone, My gf and I are trying to book a last minute night stay for my bday in Newport Beach and were looking to get any help identifying a hotel advertised on Hotwire Secret Hotel list. 4* $155 usually $264. 80% Recommended. Full Amenities: Pet friendly, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. P.S. We absolutely do not want The Fairmont and are hoping it won't be that lol. Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! (and an early Happy Birthday to you) Unfortunately the Fairmont does appear to be a likely candidate for this one. Are there any other zones or hotel offers (at perhaps a lower star rating) that are of interest? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. 1701ePicard Posted June 3, 2014 Author Report Posted June 3, 2014 Thank you for the reply! I was hesitant that it was The Fairmont because of the price tag of the normal $264 and its lists for around $160 when looked online. It says 41% off and that is what makes me hope it isn't the Fairmont. Any ideas?
AaronJB Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 The "retail" rate showing on Hot.wire isn't the rate of the underlying hotel, it is a compilation/average of comparable hotels in the area for your date/s. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
1701ePicard Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 Does anyone have a guess as to what else it could be? Or is it the Fairmont? Which I don't even know how that's considered 'Newport Beach' when its by John Wayne Airport in Costa Mesa/Santa Ana.

We don't like Huntington (too many drunks etc always out as well as ridiculous parking/resort fees).
1701ePicard Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 We are most likely going to change the date from June 11-12 to June 12-13 as the prices are better.
yellowdog Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 Do you see any hotel you need help with for June 12-13? One you confirm the dates let us know how we can help you further with this stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. Yellowdog.
1701ePicard Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 Hello YellowDog, I appreciate the offer! We ended up changing the date to June 12-13 and booked The Island for $179/night. It was over $400 the other day and we decided to take advantage of it considering its only $20 more than The Fairmont would of been on the 11th (through secret hotel). For anyone else interested in The Island, Friday June 14 is it the secret hotel on Hotwire 5* and was going for $132 I believe.
thereuare Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your win with the board. So to confirm, you purchase this hotel thru HOTWIRE for the nite of 6/12? (i'm not sure where the posted date of 6/14 comes into play). Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities that HOTWIRE currently shows to be associated with this property when viewing the purchase using the MY ACCOUNT link on the top right of their home page. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy your stay... and have a Happy Birthday.
