Rrashed Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Hi, I need advice on how much I should bid for a 4* hotel in the Universal Orlando area. There are only two 4* hotels that are currently available for my dates in that area: Loews Royal Pacific and JW Marriott Grande Lakes. The dates are 07/15/2014 - 07/23/2014. I've bid $108/night, but my bid was not accepted. My budget is $150/night including taxes/fees and parking. Do you have any recommendations for me?
AaronJB Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 The retail side is not necessarily an indicator of what may appear on the discount side - there may be hotels with discounted inventory that don't have inventory on the retail side (and vice-versa). Would this be the only acceptable zone? What is your maximum bid price (before taxes/fees)? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Rrashed Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 Hi Aaron and thank you. My maximum bid would be $125 per night for a 4 star hotel similar to the JW Marriott or the Royal Pacific. I am interested in a hotel that is either on Universal property or provides shuttle service to the Universal theme parks and Sea world. Do you have any recommendations for me?
yellowdog Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 Sorry to say that I think that a hotel on Universal property isn't within your budget. And the Universal zone looks difficult if you want to go 4* with a max budget of $125. To confirm, are you OK with both the Universal and Sea World zone or do you want to stick with Universal? My maximum bid would be $125 per night for a 4 star hotel similar to the JW Marriott or the Royal PacificYou can't bid on or avoid a specific hotel when using PRICELINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select. And you need to bid for the Sea World zone if you looking for something similar to Marriott etc. It's only the on-site hotels that are higher rated in the Universal zoneI took a quick look at your dates and HOTWIRE got what I think is 4* Crowne Plaza Universal Orlando (rated 3.5* by Priceline). It's a nice hotel priced $76. They provide service for both Universal and Sea World. Is this something you would consider or do you want to try your luck on PRICELINE?Let us know and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.
Rrashed Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 Hi Yellowdog and thank you for your valuable feedback. I am not interested in the Crowne Plaza Universal, but I am willing to either consider the Sea World area as well or increase my bid to get one of the onsite Universal hotels. Do you think a bid of up to $150/night could work for the Universal 4* on-site hotel, or that's too low as well? What would be my options for a 4* Sea World hotel and how much should I bid for that? I just searched PRICELINE EXPRESS deals for hotels in the Sea World area and found the following deals. Can you help me figure out which hotels these are? 4* hotel for $83/night Rated 9.0 out of 10 (or higher) Guaranteed Amenities: Outdoor Swimming Pool Business Center Fitness Center Check In: Tue Jul 15, 2014 Check Out: Tue Jul 22, 2014 4* hotel for $87/night Rated 8.0 out of 10 (or higher) Guaranteed Amenities: Free Internet in public areas Outdoor Swimming Pool Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center Check In: Tue Jul 15, 2014 Check Out: Thu Jul 24, 2014 3.5* hotel for $113/night Rated 9.0 out of 10 (or higher) Guaranteed Amenities: Outdoor Swimming Pool Fitness Center Check In: Tue Jul 15, 2014 Check Out: Fri Jul 25, 2014 Thanks again....you're a great help!

For the PRICELINE EXPRESS properties, what is the zone of each, as i'm not seeing all of this in the I-Drive South-Sea World zone? Rrashed Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 Thanks Yellowdog for your advice about the bidding process. The two 4* hotels are in the Sea World/International Drive area and the 3.5* hotel is in the Universal area. Can you help me figure out what those could be?
thereuare Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 I am only seeing one of the three hotels above, please run a new search and re-post the hotels that you are currently seeing, including the zone names next to each property. Also, as there are different dates for each property, are your plans not yet firm OR are they flexible and you can commit to any of the dates posted? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Thanks.
