bzerbs Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I am looking to book a room from 9/17/2014 - 9/19/2014.I would like a 5* hotel preferably in the Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South (2nd preference is Strip North). What is the best bidding strategy? (It shows that the median retail price is $122). My budget per night is $100 (not including resort fees). And I made sure to use the PRICELINE link from this website! :)
yellowdog Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Your budget looks OK for your dates. But the median retail price is nothing you should pay attention to. Would you be OK with a hotel without casino in the South zone? Thanx for using boards PRICELINE links! Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Also, did you first want to try up to your budget in the Strip South zone, then if rejected try the Strip North zone... or ultimately is price the most important factor and the least expensive in either of these two zones is the goal? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bzerbs Posted May 30, 2014 Author Report Posted May 30, 2014 Yes, I would be okay without a casino. I understand Vdara is on the Hotel Lists in this region. I would be fine with that since Cosmopolitan and Aria are close by. I wouldn't mind Strip North (although I prefer Strip Vicinity South). But ultimately, the lowest price is the biggest factor.
alfbo Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 What has worked for me in the past, in addition to the bidding strategy suggested on here about adding zones that don't have the star level you're trying to get, is to look at the hotel list and find the price for the hotel you want in the "no name no bidding" section of Priceline. I'll try a "name your own" price that is about $20 less a night that the no bidding. Usually when I get close to $10 less, my name your own price bid is accepted.
thereuare Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 5* Strip South and Strip North... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100 Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
