lola1888 Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Apparently picked the most brutally expensive weekend to stay in Chicago; after bidding 3.5* 170, 3* 179, was offered to bid once more without changing my stars or location for 215. Figured I was better to take the express deal at 202 as I didn't want lower than a 3* and really wanted the location. So glad I did!
AaronJB Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Congrats on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :) Solid win for this Residence Inn property during a busy period. lola1888 Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 Amenities: Free Breakfast Free Internet Pets Allowed Business Center Fitness Center Guest Rating: 9.0 Do you have any tips for finding reasonable parking in the area? At the hotel it's around $60 but I'm hoping to find something for less that's walking distance.
AaronJB Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 There are a number of garages in the vicinity, including the 900 N Michigan Ave shops ($45, although that includes city tax.) Museum of Contemporary Art is $42. Standard/Central Parking garages nearby seem to be around the same price. The Millennium Park/Grant Park/Navy Pier garages are farther away, but cheaper (especially the Millennium Lakeside garage - http://www.millenniumgarages.com/east-monroe-street/.) One note about this property - I've stayed here previously and the one positive about the Residence Inn on Walton is that if you can manage to get a room facing North on the top couple floors you should get at least a partial lake view - it is worth trying to contact the hotel in advance if this is of interest. If not, this is still a very nice property in a great location on the top end of the NMA area. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
lola1888 Posted May 29, 2014 Author Report Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely be calling the hotel to see about room requests; it would be great to have a bit of a lake view!
