Hi,

My sister is travelling to London in late July initially for a conference and then for a few extra leisure days.

She's based in Islington during the conference but doesn't mind if she is not in the same area for the remaining days. I have suggested in fact it might be nice to be in a different area to have different sights on hand.

What I've found so far...

PRICELINE EXPRESS DEALS

I've had a look at the PRICELINE Express Deals using your links and can only see one which is under $150 which has the following details:

4*London Docklands Area $128 per night

Free internet

Pets allowed

8.0 Guest Score/ Guest Favourite

Based on that my guess is that it would be either Novotel London Greenwich or Aloft London Excel.

HOTWIRE HOT DEAL

4* London Docklands - Canary Wharf - Excel Center area - $84 per night

4* Islington - Shoreditch - Whitechapel area - $107 per night

Nothing on the currently reported Hotwire hotel list matches this. Any ideas?

4* Regents Park - Baker Street - Camden Market area - $132 per night

Nothing on the currently reported Hotwire hotel list matches this. Any ideas?

As always I used and continue to use your HOT.WIRE and PRICELINE links.

Hi,

I understand that you must be quite busy with people needing help over the busy Summer holiday period.

I would ideally like something under $150 but maximum is under $200.

PRICELINE EXPRESS DEALS

FINSBURY & ISLINGTON

4* US$174/night
8.0 + rating
Free internet and pets allowed
Room choice available

My guess is the HIlton London Islington. What do you think?

BLOOMSBURY & MARBLE ARCH

4* US175/night
7.0+ rating
Free internet

There are plenty of matches for this standard amenity.

I note that previous wins through NYOP are for Doubletree HIlton London Marble Arch and the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury.

Any ideas what this property might be?

WESTMINSTER, HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT, VICTORIA

4* US149/night
8.0+ rating
Free internet

There are plenty of matches for this standard amenity.

My guesses are that it might be for either the Doubletree by HIlton London Westminster or Park Plaza Riverbank London.

Any ideas?

KENSINGTON / EARLS COURT

4* US$176/night
7.0+ rating
Free internet

Again, pretty standard amenitiy.

I note that the Hilton Olympia has been won on NYOP for this area. Do you think that might be what this is?

ISLINGTON - SHOREDITCH - WHITECHAPEL

5* US$178/night

Tripadvisor 4/5

Hotwire 95%

There are no 5* hotels currently reported on Hotwire for this area. Any ideas?

I am guessing based on amenities and also the tripadvisor rating that it is the Town Hall Hotel. Do you agree?

Continuing on with HOTWIRE Hot Deals that I've found using your links...

BLOOMSBURY - ST PANCRAS - BRITISH MUSEUM

4* US$153/night

85% Hotwire

3.5/5.0 Tripadvisor

Restaurant(s)

My guess is that it might be the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury that you have on the HOTWIRE list matching these amenities.

WESTMINSTER - VICTORIA - BIG BEN

4* US$162/night

85% Hotwire

4/5 Tripadvisor

Free Breakfast
Free Internet
Restaurant(s)

I can't see any hotel that has been reported with these amenities. The free internet and breakfast is quite interesting to us.

My guess is that it might be The Windermere. Can you please let me know what you think this might be.

KENSINGTON - SHEPHERDS BUSH - WESTFIELD LONDON

4.5* US$154/night

100% Tripadvisor

Free Internet
Boutique Hotel
Fitness Centre
Restaurant(s)

I note that there are no reported 4.5* hotels for this area.

My guess is the Dorsett Shepherds Bush. What do you think?

CITY OF LONDON - TOWERBRIDGE - ST PAUL'S CATHEDRAL

4* US$190/night

'Still gathering reviews'

Free Internet
Boutique Hotel
Smoke Free Rooms

Restaurant(s)

This is not a direct match for any of the hotels that have been reported and listed to the Hotwire Hotels List. However, the boutique hotel listing makes me wonder whether it might be the Hotel Indigo that has already been reported.

Although, I am also thinking that it could be Club Quarters, Lincoln’s Inn Fields hotel or DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - West End.

We are keen to start booking using your links (as always) soon.

Your answers to these questions would be much appreciated (yes, I do realise there are quite a few but this is having narrowed down areas and price).

Thanks in advance.

Bumping this up as I still haven't had any replies from anyone... Please help as we want to book or at least start bidding if that's the way we go ASAP.

From the variety of areas and the range of prices, it looks like your sister would be happy with all sorts of different results as long as she got a 4* or higher.

One tends to do a little better via bidding than via either Priceline.Express or Hot.wire.

Why not just bid all the possible zones and see what happens?  Starting maybe 10% below the best number you can see on PE or HW.

At the moment there aren't any free rebid zones available, but I'm sure one of the pros here could give you a bidding pattern that would reflect your interests.

Save a British Pound or two for shopping?

Maybe even split your bid and let her experience three or four days in each of a couple different zones.

I've always found it very easy to move around in London, so the particular zone doesn't really matter to me.  And each one has showed another slice of London.

I suspect the reason your request didn't get answered promptly is the research time for 15 different places was daunting.  Maybe you'd like to post back with top 3 and see how quickly you get an answer?

However, those Priceline.Express and Hot.Wire deals come and go, sometimes rather rapidly.  It would be best to make sure the ones you post are still on the table.

For the record, I'm a member, not anybody official here.  This is just IMHO.

Romelle

PS - if you still want a few Priceline.express and/or Hot.Wire deals researched, you will also need to specify whether you were looking at the Aug 4 or 5 ending date.  Deals can be date specific.

Success!

Had bid a little over previous days each time using your PRICELINE link. Tried a variety of zones and each time closed the window and went back in (using your link). We hadn't really bid seriously until today.

Today we tried zones 1-3 individually at $100 USD then zone 4 and 6 individually at $105 and got lucky at that price.

Offer Price:

avg. per room, per night

US$ 105.00

Rooms:  1

Nights:  2

Room Subtotal: US$ 210.00

Taxes & Fees: US$ 51.50

Total Charged to Card:  US$ 261.50

According to PRICE.LINE it is a 30% saving.

As always we use your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and will continue to do so.

Thanks again.

Congratulations on your success!

Thanks for using the PRICE.LINE links on the board.

We hope your sister is satisfied with the outcome and will like the Hilton.

Excellent deal you scored!

Quite central, and in an interesting area.  I'm even told thrifty Queen Elizabeth buys her serviceable unmentionables at the Marks and Spenser in the area.

If you haven't already found them, there are quite a few reviews for this hotel:

London Hotel Reviews

A few crabby remarks, but amongst them are a worthwhile number of tips and useful info some kind members have posted.

Took me a while to find the London hotel reviews the first time, so I'll give you a hint - they are under "E" for England.

Not "L" for London, not "O" for Other Countries, and not "G" for Great Britain, all of which I tried first.
