bgilliland Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 Looking for a hotel June 8-11 for an anniversary trip. We are first timers to New York and would love to stay near everything. Looking at Times Square, Midtown East, Midtown West, or Central Park South Thoughts on these areas? We see a priceline express deals for Midtown East 4 Star with a 7.0 guest rating. Amenities are free internet, restaurant, bus. center, and fitness center. for $212 / night What do you all hotel do you think this could be? There is also one for Time Square that is for a 3 star, it doesnt have a guest rating. Amenities are restaurant, bus. center, and fitness center for $214/night We have never used Priceline express deals or bidding before due to being nervous of getting stuck in a bad situation. Definitely don't want that for our first trip and our anniversary. However the prices for purchase the regular way are crazy. Any advice is greatly appreciated
bgilliland Posted May 25, 2014 Author Report Posted May 25, 2014 Also see a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal in Midtown East that is 3.5 stars with an 8.0 rating that is a guest favorite. Has Restaurant, bus. center, and fitness center for $215/night. What hotel do you think this is?
bgilliland Posted May 25, 2014 Author Report Posted May 25, 2014 Ok last one is: Central Park South 4 stars with not customer rating. Amenities are restaurant, bus cent, fit. center for $232 / night Thoughts?
AaronJB Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Happy anniversary! 3.5* MTE: WIth only a couple of common amenities, I'd say this could be Hotel Boutique at Grand Central, Courtyard MTE or Residence Inn MTE, but I'd say the first two are more likely.4* MTE - possible match for the Lexington or Marriott MTE, but more likely the former. I'm also seeing a 4* boutique in MTE on Hot.wire for $210 that has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but there is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating on that listing (you can click on the listing and then on the detail page see the tripadvisor rating - a tripadvisor logo with 4/5 circles shaded - so this property does get good reviews overall.)3* TS - this could be a lot of different properties, but I'd lean towards the Best Western Plus at TS or possibly the Manhattan at TS.4* CPS - My guess is that this may be the Hudson - if so, that boutique property has tiny rooms. What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay? Personally, I often recommend Midtown East and the neighboring Empire State Building area as convenient, less hectic and less expensive than Times Square, Midtown W. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
bgilliland Posted May 25, 2014 Author Report Posted May 25, 2014 Thanks for your response. We wanted to stay between $200 - $240 a night before taxes. We will check the empire state area have not checked there much. Thanks
bgilliland Posted May 25, 2014 Author Report Posted May 25, 2014 Just got the Midtown East 4 star express deal it was the Lexington. for $212 Thanks for your help. Hope this is a nice hotel.
AaronJB Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Very good win for this property and glad you are looking forward to your stay. This was previously a Radisson property, but it was given a significant renovation not that long ago and is now under Marriott's "Autograph Collection" banner. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
