wadcock Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 We're planning a trip to NYC from 7/4-7/8/14 & hoping to stay in Times Square area at 3.5* or higher. Is $140-$160/night a reasonable budget?
yellowdog Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Your budget looks doable if you're OK to include Midtown East and Midtown West in your bidding. Or is Times Square the only zone you're willing to stay in? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* hotel or you just want to try to score the cheapest 3.5* or better? Let us know what PRICELINE zones you're willing to stay in and well help you with a strategy. Yellowdog. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.

wadcock Posted May 23, 2014 Author Report Posted May 23, 2014 Were hoping to get something in the Times Square zone, and yes, just hoping to score the cheapest rate that I can for a 3.5* hotel there. Having said that, if I really need to add Midtown East &/or West to the mix, I would probably be willing to add those zones in, but would prefer to try Times Square by itself first. Thanks for the help -
thereuare Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 HOTWIRE has what appears to be 4* The Row NYC for $158/nite... and the 3.5* Hotel Manhattan at Times Square for $131/nite. Are either/both of these acceptable? If so, we could use one of these rates as your maximum bid when bidding on PRICELINE. If both are acceptable, let us know which you would prefer to so that we can adjust your bidding accordingly... or do you want to just take one of the offers above via HOTWIRE? (NOTE: The Row NYC is currently 4 star rated by PRICELINE but (i don't believe) ever reported to the board as a win by bidding... so this may or may not be available thru the 'opaque' side of their service... and on PRICELINE The Manhattan at Times Square is 3* rated, so you would also need to confirm that this is an acceptable hotel for you for this stay) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know the above and we will take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
wadcock Posted May 23, 2014 Author Report Posted May 23, 2014 Either of the hotels would be fine, & I'm comfortable with the HOT.WIRE rates, so OK to take one of those offers. I think Hotel Manhattan would be our first choice. I understand that the prices are for single bed rooms, but if any chance to get room with 2 beds & not go above $165/night, that would be great! Just let me know what I need to do to move forward - thanks again!!
thereuare Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Not sure how many actual guests you have, but if you search HOTWIRE for 2adults/2children there is a 3.5* hotel in the Times Square zone for $156/nite with: Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... best guess here would be the Belvedere Hotel. Hot.wire guarantees occupancy for everyone that you include in your search, so by searching for quad occupancy (2a/2c) you should be able to assure at least two beds in the room (although the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc). Do you want to go with this option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. wadcock Posted May 24, 2014 Author Report Posted May 24, 2014 You were right! Booked the Belvedere Hotel from 7/4-7/8/14, but got it for $153/night for quad occupancy - that's awesome!! Used the HOTWIRE link that you provided - very easy process. This is a great site!! Thanks so much for your help!! I'll let you know how everything goes when we get back from our trip.
yellowdog Posted May 24, 2014 Report Posted May 24, 2014 Congratulations on your success! Thanks for using the HOTWIRE links on the board. We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the hotel. Enjoy your stay. Yellowdog.
