OnTheGoAgain
Hi there, I will be arriving at LHR evening of July 3rd (Term 5) and have a domestic departure out on July 4th at 9A. Am researching hotels with the Hoppa Hotel bus service (are there other hotel shuttles?) vs a taxi to airport. Can you please provide some bidding strategies for me? Thank you.OnTheGoAgain Link to comment
OnTheGoAgain
Oops - can this please be moved to the PL forum? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Are there any Heathrow zones on PRICELINE where you are willing to stay at any hotel/location that accepts your bid? If so, which zone(s) are acceptable and what would be your maximum bid for a 4* hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. OnTheGoAgain
Hi, I'm unsure of your zone question - North Heathrow, Slough or South Heathrow as listed on your betterbidding hotel list? I just researched all hotels on your list for these zones... It looks like I cannot get to/from Copthorne Slough Windsor via shuttle bus, so I would only like North Heathrow and South Heathrow. In looking at the bidding zones on Price.line, they have more zones so should I research those zones/hotels? Max bid is $75. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
The issue is that you are looking for a hotel that is on a shuttle route, so unless the shuttle services every hotel in the zone, i don't see how you will be able to do so... i don't know enough about the Hoppa Bus to know how extensive and which hotel(s) are serviced. OnTheGoAgain
Hi again, All of the hotels listed in your zones, except for one in SLough, are serviced by Hoppa Bus. I got on their website earlier. So as long as I only bid in North Heathrow and S. Heathrow zones, I will be at a hotel serviced by Hoppa Bus. There are additional zones on Price.line website though (I searched their non-bidding site), so would I check those as well (against the hoppa bus)? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
All of the hotels listed in your zones, except for one in SLough, are serviced by Hoppa Bus.See the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List in that the lists only contain hotels reproted to the board... are you willing to accept the risk that you may get a new hotel not yet reported? (and if so, that it will <hopefully> be serviced by the Hoppa bus)? The Hoppa bus may very well service the entire area, i just don't know enough about it to comment, but try to at least warn users what could possibly go wrong (but by dotting your i's and crossing your t's beforehand, and discussing potential pitfalls, we usually help avoid most unexpected 'mistakes' :) ) If so, please confirm that both the South Heathrow and North Heathrow zones are acceptable and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
OnTheGoAgain
Yes, I'll take my chances - I would "think" most airport hotels are either quick taxi or serviced by Hoppa Bus - routes seem extensive. Yes, please provide a strategy for South Heathrow and North Heathrow zones. Thanks again!. Link to comment
thereuare
At current rates my guess is that $75 for a 4* hotel will likely fall a bit short, but you can give it a try as follows: When bidding 4* in the Heathrow Airport region you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 4* North Heathrow Airport... Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* South Heathrow Airport... Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* North Heathrow Airport and South Heathrow Airport... Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $75 Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes. OnTheGoAgain
No luck on this. Should I wait and try same strategy again or up my budget? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
At current rates i think you're more likely looking in the $90-$105 area for a 4* hotel for these dates (we will of course start lower)... how high are you willing to bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. OnTheGoAgain
Sorry for the untimely delay, am back, ready to try to bid again. I could go as high at $105, as you suggest. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
There are still currently THREE re-bid zones when bidding 4* in this area and you can try as follows: Select 4* Heathrow North... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $88, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* Heathrow South... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $88, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* Heathrow North and Heathrow South... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $98 If the above is rejected, PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the Heathrow North zone for $105/nite, but with the discount link and code in my signature this comes down to $100/nite, and you can go with that offer. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. OnTheGoAgain
Success. I got Holiday Inn (M4 Junction 4) for $85.00 (Heathrown North area). Just looked online for a room there and it was 104 GBP (@ $175)! Checked the Hoppa Bus schedule and it runs every 30 minutes - all good. Thank you so much for your help. Link to comment

OnTheGoAgain
Quick hotel review. The room was newly redecorated, very nice! All the amenities including nice linens, shower/bathroom. It is a large hotel...airline personnel and tour groups were staying there. A few dining options but food in the irish pub was only fair. The Hoppa bus worked well. As recommended on this site, I always provide my frequent stay membership upon checking (for any room charges) and was rewarded with extra points or free alcoholic drink at any of their establishments. Can easily recommend the hotel. Link to comment
AaronJB
Thank you for the follow-up review! :)Glad to hear that the stay went well. Link to comment
