Hi there,

I found a deal on PL express:

4 Star Hotel in Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South Area for $50/night.

This deal saves 20% or more compared to similar hotels*

Star Rating:  4*

Guest Score: Rated 7.0out of 10 (or higher)

Guaranteed Amenities:
Free Internet in room
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Free Parking
Business Center
Casino
Fitness Center

Do you have any idea which hotel it is?

I am not sure it is New York New York or Mont Carlo.

Thanks.

The MGM, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo and NYNY are matches on amenities. I'd guess the Monte Carlo is more likely, but any of the four are possibilities.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I think, according to only 20% saving, MGM and Mandalay Bay may not be possible.

The discount is not relative to the specific hotel offered, but rather "a hotel in this area and star level for the same travel dates."

Using the percent discount shown by PRICELINE or HOTWIRE in trying to determine the is not a reliable (and therefore not a recommended) method of trying to guess a property.

What is it that you are looking for in this stay?

Do you want NYNY because you like that hotel OR because you have friends staying there and want to be close to them?

The PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel above is priced at $50, and a direct purchase HERE or HERE is only $65/nite and the difference is about $25 total for a two nite stay... is it worth $25 to get the hotel you want for this trip?

EDIT TO ADD: i also just saw that you can get the same $65/nite rate from Hotels.com and it comes with two free buffets, which if you use these, would be worth more than the $25 savings... and the reservation is fully refundable (double check the terms during the check-out process) until a few days before your arrival. At the very least i would book this as a back-up, then you can continue to monitor PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE to see if the hotel you want happens to appear.

ALSO, you can use the 'Hotels by Name' tab at RateDrop and sign up for an alert for NYNY and request an email any time this specific property drops below $65/nite, and you could then cancel/rebook this property at the lower rate.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

I wonder if this is true with these PRICELINE EXPRESS deals, i don't really foray onto here much but i just looked at a Vegas hotel for september and in the 'Additional Mandatory Fee' box (ie resort fees) came to an amount which worked out to $22.40 per day, a quick cross reference shows the Monte Carlo as being that exact amount so perhaps if you can see the daily resort fee that will help narrow it down?

If you have been using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE at all, it would be appreciated if you did come by more often and share your wins. :)

While $22.40 may seem like an 'odd' amount, this is actually a $20 resort fee after taxes are paid, so while this could help narrow down the hotel a bit, it would only do so by all hotels that charge a $20 (or $22.40) resort fee... the same goes for a $25/$28 amount. However, the amenity set continues to still be the best/most complete way to guess the hotel offered.
