For 6/6-6/9, I'm seeing a different 3* when searching, but for the 3.5*, I'd guess the Marriott Mag Mile or Courtyard River North.

I will note there are some terrific breakfast options in Chicago, so while it is nice to have food right there in the hotel in the morning, there's some great (and pretty reasonable) options nearby in the River North-NMA area. In other words, I personally wouldn't recommend spending $30-40+ more per night for a hotel w/breakfast.

The 3* with 9/10 rating is no longer showing and the pricing for the 3.5* has also changed now. I will probably wait for a few days and try again. Thanks a lot AaronJB.

You can use our new sister site RateDrop to set an alert to notify you any time a hotel star the star rating and zones you're seeking drops into your 'buy range'... basically it monitors prices throughout the day and alerts you if a deal comes along based upon the parameters you set.

Any guesses on  4* (mag mile-river north) on hotwire easy view for $212 with following amenities:

FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Resort, Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower

None of the 4* hotels on the hotwire list have' resort' as one of the amenities.

I can't see either of the two deals AaronJB.

When I'm searching this morning, I'm still seeing a 4* Express Deal on PRICELINE in the River North-NMA area for $182 w/pool, pet friendly, fitness, business. I'm seeing a 4.5* in the zone for $213, w/pool, pet, restaurant, business, fitness. This is likely the Intercontinental.

Coupon code METRO4 takes 5% off of either one.

I'd guess the Felix with a slightly different amenity set than it has been previously seen with. I don't know why resort would be included (it also seems to be appearing with a couple of other boutiques in the city now.)

I see what looks like the InterContinetnal for $204/nite which would look to be your best bet that meets your criteria at the moment.

If nothing to change with the PRICELINE / HOTWIRE offerings in the next 3 weeks what is your game plan / back-up?

You may want to try on Hot.wire searching for 2 adults and 2 children - you may see some different options (although possibly slightly more expensive.) I'm seeing what may be the Hyatt Mag Mile for $203, but only when searching for 2a/2c.

Congrats on your success. :)

Good deal for this property during a busy period. Can you confirm the amenities that were showing with this listing before purchase? Thanks.

As I noted with another user who won this property, one note about this RI location on Walton is that if you can, I'd try requesting a room facing North on the top couple of floors, as you have a chance of at least a partial lake view. There are studios on these floors, so it would not be an upgrade. This is also a really nice location at the top end of the Michigan Ave area.

Let me know if you have any Chicago questions.

Thanks AaronJB for the suggestion regarding the room.

Amenities mentioned before purchase:

Free breakfast

Free internet in room

pets allowed

Business center

Fitness Centre

guest rating 9.0

Just one question regarding location : is the hotel area safe to walk back to at night?

Posted

This particular property (which was renovated a year or two ago) used to be an apartment building and it is in an small area where there are a number of other high-end condo buildings in the few blocks nearby. You also have three other hotels within the block (the Drake, Knickerbocker and Hilton Suites.) This is off Michigan Ave, but there should be people around. You have to be aware of your surroundings in general in Chicago downtown, but this is a very nice area and there should be activity nearby at night.

Let me know if you have any other Chicago questions at all.

Enjoy your stay.
