Hi

My husband and I just booked flights to NYC arriving 21st July 2014, leaving 29th July.

We are looking for a hotel near central park (midtown central area).  4* and above. The budget is around £1000.  Would really like to get the sofitel.  is there any way to get this one?

Hello thanks for the reply :-)

The cost per night including taxes and fees would be around $210 - not sure how much that is less taxes and fees?  Sorry I'm not too sure what the taxes and fees are.

I will be sure to book through your links if we get a good hotel

At the 4* level in NYC the following zones generally work well for the average user with the following caveats:

MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, ESB, Chelsea

MTE - most hotels are well located but a few can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subay

Chelsea - some hotels can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway, but this is a 'happening' area right now with lots of bars, restaurants, boutiques, cafes, etc. so many still consider it to be desirable, even if not the most convenient

Also, you can include CPS if you'd like, but many choose to avoid it currently as the Hudson Hotel is here, and while well located, has notoriously small rooms, so you would need to be comfortable with this option if you included this zone.

Let us know your thoughts on the zones above and which ones you would liek to include in your bidding, and we'll take it from there.

Hi again and thanks for the info!

Close to subway is important, we would prefer to be a few mins from a subway station if possible, for the convenience of getting around the city.  And would prefer a decent room too nothing too small.

Out of those areas we would prefer MTW, MTE (apart from the 15 min to subway hotels!), & MSG.  TS if the hotel wasn't too noisy!

Really looking for a hotel with decent rooms, close to a subway, restaurants, amenities with great reviews .... not asking a lot lol

Here are some options of what i currently believe i'm seeing:

4* The Carlton on Madison Avenue or the St Giles the Court (could be either) for $144/nite

4* TRYP Times Square South for $163/nite

4* The Row NYC for $173/nite

4.5* St. Giles - The Tuscany for $216 (if you were interested in extending your budget)

Thoughts on any of the above?

Those rates are pre taxes/fees.

There is a 4.5* in the ESB area when I'm searching for 7/21-29 w/Free Internet,Fitness Center,Business Center,Self service laundry,internet access.

I'm seeing it for $163 this afternoon, though.

Excellent.  Is it 100% the st giles? its appearing as the only 4.5 star on the ESB hotwire list, just want to be sure though.  its coming up as £1022 total on hotwire.

Booking direct through the hotel website we could get it for £1174 total, but we would know for sure its the st giles.

Thanks for your patience I'm new to this! :-)

Very nice win for this former W property. Glad you are looking forward to your stay.

Can you confirm the price was $163 per night before taxes/fees as I was seeing earlier?
