Priceline Hotel: Manhattan NYC 09/25 to 09/30

I am currently looking for the best hotel I can get for under/around $200 a night for the 09/25 to 09/30. I want to stay around the general tourist areas of NY, so anything from Hells Kitchen, Times Square, Empire State Building, Midtown etc would be fine. Judging from other posts, a good deal would be a decent 4.5* hotel however they are current eluding me.

 

Would you have any tips?

 

Am I looking too far out? Should I wait until closer to the trip date?

 

Is it best to search for 2 or 3 nights only, instead of the whole trip?

What star rating, zones, and maximum bid price have you already tried?

I think you should be able to get a 4* hotel for ~$200/nite (Wyndham New Yorker, The Row NYC)... or for a little more what looks to be the Park Lane is offered at $228/nite... any of these of interest?

4.5 star in Midtown East for $262 per night, 09/25 to 09/30.

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.

I'm not 100% certain, but The Benjamin would be my best guess for this one. Given the 4.5* rating, and the 4.5/5.0 TA rating, i wouldn't be too concerned with quality for this one (should it turn out not to be the Benjamin)
