Hi! I'm new to priceline bidding and have done a lot of reading on this site. Excellent information. I found some bidding strategy from Thereuare and would love your help if possible. I wanted to start my bidding today for a 4*, probably Mayfair-Soho to start then add MA. Here's a strategy from another post. Please let me know if I should follow this:

Selelct 4* Bloomsbury...

Bid $75, if rejected add Mayfair...

Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Selelct 4* Westminster...

Bid $75, if rejected add Mayfair...

Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select Bloomsbury and Westminster...

Bid $85, if rejected add Mayfair...

Bid $90.

I realize the order of adding zones in the strategy above is different from what I want but I think I get the general idea. Any help appreciated!!

No, you can't follow the above because the above includes three different zones while you've only indicated that you're willing to accept a hotel in two of those zones.

The Mayfair zone is typically much more expensive than the Bloomsbury/Marble Arch zone and if i recall the post above the Mayfair zone at those levels wasn't realistic (but gave another opportunity to bid the Bloomsbury zone). If you're happy with the Bloomsbury/Marble Arch zone but could also accept the Mayfair zone i would bid as follows:

Selelct 4* Bloomsbury...

Bid $55, if rejected add Mayfair...

Bid $60.

Let us know if you try the above and how it goes. If you don't think the above meets the goals for your stay let us know and we'll suggest an alternate approach.

Started with Bloomsbury-Marble Arch at 55 - rejected, PL countered with $98 - rejected. Added Mayfair-Soho and bid $60. Bid rejected. What are the next steps?

Based upon the counteroffer I'm guessing it will likely take $70-$75 to be successful, so you can either bid those two amounts on your next round of bidding (after 72 hours) or if you're not in a hurry you can first try $65/$70... then if rejected try $75/$80 after another 72 hour waiting period.

Ok I've waited my 72 hours. I started bidding again with B/MA at 70, was rejected. PL countered at $97.00. I added Mayfair at 77 and was rejected. Any suggestions? I suppose at this point something around $85 should do it??

B/MA bid at $82, rejected, PL countered at $96. Added Mayfair, bid $92. Offer accepted at the Thistle Marble Arch. I was a little surprised it was so much compared to others who have bid around the mid $50 to $60 range for this hotel. Early December in London is not exactly tourist season. Oh well - not a bad rate in the end.

Glad you got this settled... still at a very good rate.

It's not just tourists that occupy hotel rooms. It could be something as simple as the hotel hosting a wedding, conference, etc... if the 'event' needs 20 hotel rooms for the attendees then that too can affect the supply (and rates) of the opaque suppliers.

Hotel direct rates from the hotel website start at 140GBP ($242 US)... not typically indicative of ulta-cheap opaque availabilty.

Have a great stay... and thanks for using the SB links :)
