Hi There,

I am new to Hot.wire / Price.Line stuff and hope to get some advices/hints from you.

My plan is to stay 3 nights in NYC from Aug 11 to Aug 14, my question is:

1. Is it too early to book now?  I mean will the price drop moving forward? E.g. cheaper close to Aug?

2. I saw a popular one with $197 in Empire State Building area 4 star in Hot.wire,  do you have any idea which hotel it could be? How can I make a reasonable guess?

Thanks

Please read this link: Should i Bid Early or Close to Arrival Date

2. I saw a popular one with $197 in Empire State Building area 4 star in Hotwire,  do you have any idea which hotel it could be? How can I make a reasonable guess?

Please list the amenities HOTWIRE associates with the hotel you're looking at and we'll be happy to have a look at this. Please do a search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer.

Also, all reported HOTWIRE and PRICELINE hotels can be found in this link: NYC Hotels

Thanks for the prompt response.

Unfortunatey I could not access the linke for "Should i Bid Early or Close to Arrival Date", could you pls check the link or any other way being there?

Using BiddingHelper.com,  I could not find the option 4 star option at $197/8 in Empire building, but there is one listed as $202 also 4 star in same area.

Here is full amenities listed:

FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access

Price: $202 per night

Is this the info required to guess hotel?

Thanks a lot

Sorry about the link, it's working now.

I can get the price for the hotels to match. Are you on the US version of HOTWIRE?

Best guess would be Carlton on Madison Avenue.

What is it that you're looking for from this stay?

For example i see a 4* hotel for $172/nite (less than the hotel above) in the MSG zone with an impressive 4.5/5.0 TA rating:

Free Internet

Smoke Free

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Roll-in Shower

... best guess for this one would be the TRYP Times Square South.

I'm quite familiar with NYC so feel free to ask any questions and/or let us know what it is exactly that you're looking for from this stay and we'll take it from there.

Maybe because I am quoting for 3 person room (including 1 kid)

Carlton sounds great, I am wondering how do you guess just based on the amenities?

In fact, I am just looking for a hotel in Manhattan which is in safe area and not far from metro station, and I am looking for 4 star hotel just to avoid suprise by using HOTWIRE.

Where is MSG zone? I am quoting 3 person room (including 1 kid), so maybe the result is different from double occupancy

Thanks

Another option I've seen in HW is 3 star hotel in Midtown central which costs $155 from Aug 11-14

FULL AMENITIES: Smoke Free Rooms, Business Center, Internet access, Kitchenette, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower

Seems like this option got really high recommendation, could you pls help to guess which hotel it could be?

In addition, if no free internet is listed, does it mean that internet connetion will e charged, right?

Thanks

The Salisbury Hotel would be my best guess.

Yes. It could also be that they have free Internet in the lobby and charge for "in room".

We would need the star ratings of the hotels above in order to investigate, but let's backtrack...

What is it exactly that is important to you for this stay and your maximum budget?

I'm very familiar with NYC and if you let us know what it is that you're looking for (you originally wanted to stick with 4 star hotels but then looked at a 3* (which no longer appears to be offered)) we can probably pick out the 'best bang for your buck' based upon the current offers. I had done that above:

Here a bunch of offers/guesses in the ~$200 area (2a/1c):

TRYP Times Square South - $204/nite

Doubletree Chelsea - $206/nite

70 Park Avenue - $209/nite

Any of these of interest?

... what is it about these that didn't' meet your criteria?

Also, as you can see the inventory can change very quickly, and we have seen 2-3 hotels inquired about already disappear, are you ready to commit to this leg of your trip at this point in time?

Hi, I am sorry that I may have confused you about the needs

Basically I am looking for a hotel between $150-200, 3 or 4 Star hotel in a safe neighberhood, better close to metro station, good customer rating, I don't want to go beyond $200 as I have already had an option of 220 with free internet and breakfast

In terms of timing, I cannot say that the trip is fully confirmed, but it's close to final, so if the deal and guessed hotel are good, I can commit immediately

Thanks

Why does HW charge so high tax?  I've seen an option which costs $549 for 3 nights while the tax+fee cost $137, it's almost 25% which makes the option not attractive any more

What's the reason?  The hotel in NYC normally charges 14.75% plus a few dollars city charge.

Thanks

The line item is Taxes and Fees, as there is a booking fee to book thru any of the opaque providers. However, even with the booking fee, i suspect the 'all-in' price is better than anything you're seeing for a comparable hotel thru conventional booking channels.

I'm trying to guess this option myself, but I am not sure due to the amenities are quite limited

3* Madison Square Garden - Hell's Kitchen area Hotel  85% recommend

$179

Free Breakfast

Free Internet

Fitness Center

Business Center

Internet access

My guess is Holiday inn Express new york city time square,  what do you think?   Thanks

If you click on the listing, then click on "book now", then click on "see all" in the amenities box, do you see "internet" in addition to 'free internet"? If so, this listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. I'd guess an upgraded Holiday Inn Express West Side would be a possibility.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Hi There,

I am looking for an option in HW which is 3* Madison Square Garden - Hell's Kitchen 175$ on Aug 11-14th,

FULL AMENITIES: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Fitness Center, Business Center, Internet access

I have two questions:

1. What hotel will it be?

2. I am waiting for another 2 families to confirm their schedule, if we are ordering this same option just in different days when it's still available, shall we get same hotel?

Thanks a lot.

No, it's no guarantee that you get the same hotel. if you want to stay at the same hotel should you include the complete party in your search and book at the same time. Would you like to stay at the same hotel or are you OK with different ones?

Please update your Hotwire Washington and Hotwire Orlando threads if you have made any decisions for the stays.

I thought it should be Holiday Inn Express New York - Time Square, but it turned out to be the Manhattan West side. I am a little bit disappointed that the hotel is a bit west and not clost to subway station. In addition, it's not the same hotel my friends are staying.  But anyway, that's how Hotwire works with risk.

Is there any chance that Hotwire can refund all or part of the money being paid?

Thanks

Can you please confirm the star rating and amenities that HOTWIRE associated with this property... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right corner of their home page.

I am a little bit disappointed...

Wasn't the Holiday Inn Express West Side the property that was guessed above?? (or did you purchase a different offer??)

...it's not the same hotel my friends are staying.

Did everyone purchase on their own last nite and did all hotels have the same exact amenities? Didn't you ask above if everyone would receive the same hotel if purchasing separately and it was advised to make the transaction in one purchase?

It's a 3 star hotel Holiday Inn Express New York - Manhattan West Side, the amnites are:

Free Breakfast

Free Internet

Fitness Center

Business Center

Internet access

The hotel was not listed in the HW list, thus I thought it's HI Express TS
