amwc456 Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 I am looking to book a 3.5+ star hotel stay June 7-8. I would like to stay in either Times Square, Midtown West, or the Empire State Building area. I would love to not pay more than $150/night. Ideally though, I would like to pay even less, especially because I need to pay for parking. I have already tried using priceline.com, entering bids of $120 and $130 for 4stars and above and both prices were declined. I am open to suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
AaronJB Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :) Would MTE also be acceptable? Just to confirm are you staying both nights or just the one? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
amwc456 Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Posted May 7, 2014 I am only staying Saturday night - the 7th. Midtown east would be ok too. Thanks.

amwc456 Posted May 11, 2014 Author Report Posted May 11, 2014 Thank you for the help, but I was unsuccessful. Do you think I may have a better chance as the date gets closer? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
AaronJB Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 This is in the middle of a fairly busy period with nicer weather - I would keep an eye on rates (you can use our new service, ratedrop.com to monitor Hot.wire, Price.line Express and regular rates) as if traffic comes in heavier-than-expected, rats could certainly move higher between now and your stay. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 There is no way to know if rates will come down, or move even higher, between now and your trip, but i will point out that HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the ESB zone for your dates for not much more than you have already bid, at $167/nite. This property offers the following amenities: Boutique Restaurant Business Laundry Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Roll-in Shower ... and more importantly an impressive 4.5/5.0 TA rating (and 95% recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests) You may want to consider this property given the very good reviews for not much more than you have already bid, or you could try increasing your maximum bid on PRICELINE up to $165/nite and try again (but no assurance that if successful you'll receive the same hotel that is currently offered on HOTWIRE), or you can choose to wait it out and hope that rates move lower in the weeks ahead (with the risk that they could move higher instead). If you do choose to wait i'd suggest setting some alerts at RateDrop to ensure that you don't miss any deals that may come along. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
