TrueNorth Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Started bidding at $115/night and used my free re-bid zones to increase up to $120, $126 and finally to $131. I should mention that I used a 7% off code that had been emailed to me, so my final price ended up being about $27 cheaper. Sounds like the parking garage next door is $45 for a full day, so will definitely have to look around nearby for something a bit cheaper, since we won't be using the car while we're in town. Of course, used the PRICELINE link to book everything!!

AaronJB Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Parking is - unfortunately - expensive downtown (and when I thought it couldn't get anymore expensive a couple of years ago when rates seemed sky-high, they've only gotten worse.) There are a lot of garages on/around Michigan Ave nearby and this hotel is around the corner from a CTA subway station, so you do have some flexibility. Museum of Contemporary Art parking is a tad cheaper at $42, and 900 N Michigan Ave is $45 but that notes city taxes/fees included in that price, that may not be the case with other garages. There are a lot of other garages in the area as well, and some of the garages operated by companies like Central Parking may be cheaper. This property is at the top end of the zone, but I think it's actually in a very pleasant location in the Gold Coast on a residential street. The restaurants and shops of the Gold Coast are half a block South, but if you walk due North, it's not a bad trek to Lincoln Park/LP Zoo and nearby Old Town. Let me know if you have any Chicago questions. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
TrueNorth Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Posted May 7, 2014 Thanks AaronJB. This is going to be my fourth time to Chicago and I've always stayed right downtown, so I was kind of hoping to stay further north and check this area out a little bit. I was prepared for parking downtown to be expensive, but like you said, it seems even higher than when I was last there two years ago! Now we just need the weather to co-operate and be nice for a few days in June and we're all set!!!
