Hello,

I will be travelling to NYC from Ottawa Ontario, we will be driving to NYC.

Any suggestions for a hotel in NYC? Our budget is $150-200/night.

If we are staying in NYC we will need parking for the car. I've never driven to NYC and stayed in the city with a car either.

Since we will have a party of 6.. I assume we will need at least 2 rooms with 2 beds in at least one of the rooms.

I was considering staying outside of NYC and taking public transportation into NYC.

Would it better to stay in NJ? From what I've seen from researching most hotels in NYC only have 1 bed in each room.

We will be arriving Friday May 16 and departing on Monday May 19th.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Let's start with your budget... is $150-$200 the total budget per nite for all size people OR is that the budget per room on the assumption that you would need at least two rooms? (and if a third room is needed would that then lower the budget further?)

Please confirm the above and we'll then have a look at rates for your dates and review your options.

Yes if a third room is needed this would lower the budget.

Thank you for your help! I love this site!!

At current rates your budget looks a little tough for Manhattan, and unfortunately doesn't get too much better for the prime areas of NJ (when searching for your complete stay, but read on...).

If you search HOTWIRE for 2rooms/6adults for 5/16-5/18 there is a 4* hotel in the Jersey City zone (NJ) for $173/nite with:

Pet Friendly

Indoor Pool

Smoke Free

Fitness

Pool

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Tennis

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Room Accessible

Wheelchair Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

... best guess for this property would be the Westin.

If you then repeat your search for 2rooms/6adults for 5/18-5/19 what appears to be the same hotel (based upon star rating, TA rating, user reviews, etc, etc) is offered for $150/nite. For whatever reason, this same hotel is not appearing when searching for your complete stay... does the above work for your plans?

NOTE that there is some risk involved in SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID such as this... you could receive a different hotel from the first purchase and have to change properties mid-trip (although i think this is unlikely in this scenario), you could make the first purchase and the same hotel no longer offered when you go to make the second purchase, etc.

I'll also add that you could also stay the last nite of your stay (Sunday nite) directly in Manhattan for a few dollars less than the last nite in Jersey City, but not sure if you prefer to stay in the same hotel and not have to change OR prefer to save a few extra dollars and have the convenience of staying in Manhattan, but the inconvenience of needing to change properties.
