kev1 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Hi,I been looking through your forum, it looks great! I posted this yesterday and Aaron is helping with the NYC section of my holiday but just asked me to re-post this in the LA area so someone can help with this please.I have left this a little late as me and my wife are travelling over to the US end of July. We are planning on doing a fly and drive and I know some dates where we want some clean and decent accommodation where its safe and good to do the standard tourist stuff as a couple lol. We would be happy with 3.5 stars plus but as I had to spend a lot of my budget on the flights and its peak time but wasnt sure what areas to stay, what price to start bids etc.My budget would be around $100 -120 per night if that's realistic for what I am asking for? Anything below would be bonus but understand if I have got my approx budgets wrong, just let me know and I can consider.Basically I started looking at LA and like the sound of Hollywood area, then west Hol and then Downtown. But the others dont appeal as much.I would only need stay in LA between 29th to 31st July. The end of my trip will be in NYC - but as stated this is queried in the other section of your site :)Thank you very much in advance for all your help.Best Wishes,Kev
thereuare Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 Are all of these acceptable: Beverly Hills-West Hollywood Downtown Los Angeles Hollywood If so, is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better in any of these three zones? Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kev1 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 Hi, sorry for the silly question, I am little confused on the bit you say add re bid zone. I did Select 3.5* Hollywood...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone bit... so I made this and now limited to 24 hour.. so do you mean I add on Bev hills and bid again.. then if reject do same but add downtown? Then wait next day and try again with next price level up? Sorry if I am being silly I did read the re-bid explained bit but got confused on this bit. Many thanks Kev
kev1 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 Sorry your visual image really helped... so my re bid zones would be like culver city which has 3* max but im looking 3.5* so can get extra bid in :) theres only 3 rebid zones I think...
kev1 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 had to call it a night unfortunately got up to 118$ for all 3 but no luck, once i add in taxes gets to top end of budget... think being peak season the price of booking late :( Ill have a look around a few hotels and see whats around. Thanks for your help just a thought... any idea if I could get something within budget on HOTWIRE? In the locations listed prehaps a 3*?
AaronJB Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 just a thought... any idea if I could get something within budget on HOTWIRE? In the locations listed prehaps a 3*?Are you seeing any listings within your budget when searching on HOTWIRE in your desired zone/s? You can also see the HOTWIRE hotels reported to the board as wins (along with the full list of amenities that have been reported to the board) with each: Hotwire Hotel List. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kev1 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 Thanks Aaron think I got some potential hotels.. the one I am looking at is listed on HOTWIRE as North Hollywood - Studio City area with free parking, breakfast, internet, smoke free, fitness 3* - surely this is the best western Burbank airport? Would you agree? Reviews are mixed but overall not bad if so and potential booking. My only concern is some comments on location, is that ok for me to drive to and stay? Would it be easy to get to main sites and find parking or better ease of access to local amenities?
yellowdog Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 the one I am looking at is listed on hotwire as North Hollywood - Studio City area with free parking, breakfast, internet, smoke free, fitness 3* - surely this is the best western Burbank airport?I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process. Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer. Yellowdog. thereuare Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Best guess/comments for each: 3* Burbank - Universal City - Glendale --> Safari Inn (NOTE: only 40% recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests) 3* Beverly Hills - West Hollywood. $125 USD. --> possibly The Grafton on Sunset 3* Hollywood. $111 USD --> Dunes Inn Sunset (NOTE: only 20% recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests) If all of these are within your budget, why not first bid higher on PRICELINE?
