Hi,

Need help as I've never done Price.line NYOP. My max bid would have to be around 165 per night, not sure if that's even possible!

Here's my location preferences

1 Westminster - Houses of Parliament - Victoria

2 The City - Tower Bridge Mayfair - Soho

3 Bloomsbury - Marble Arch

4 Kensington - Earl's Court

5 NottingHill

Quick question as well, I noticed if your bid gets rejected the tip is to close the browser and try a different combination again...do I sign in to do this or do I just keep entering the billing information etc. each time?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

With your budget would I say that your best bet is the Westminster zone. I think you need to stretch it to $200-210 to have a chance in the other zones when bidding 4*. Are you willing to increase your budget or would you like to get the cheapest 4*?

do I sign in to do this or do I just keep entering the billing information etc. each time?

The best thing is to create an account so you don't have to enter your information all the time.

Let us know about the budget and zones and we'll go from there.

thank you!

the way I do it is pick westminster first then if rejected i go with marble arch or other high-end zones because i figured theres no way ill get anything from there, increase my price and hoping to find something at Westminster.

My top location is definitely Westminster followed by The City, then Kensington and finally Nottinghill.

You never know, things can change fast on PRICELINE. Don't use ANY zone with a 4* unless you're willing to stay in it. And always double-check your zones before each bidding cycle to make sure that nothing has changed since previously checking.

Would you like help with a bidding strategy to maximum your bidding options?

What about Bloomsbury-Marble Arch... this is included in your first list but not your second?

Also, are you willing to pay more to be in your first choice of zone vs. your second choice vs. your third choice, etc, etc... OR is the goal the least expensive 4* or better in any of your acceptable zones?

How high have you bid already and have you tried all of the zones above at that bid price?

Let us know the above and we'll take it from there.

Can I change my star to a 5? Reaching for the moon I suppose?

And I totally forgot about Bloomsbury! Plus after doing more research about the area, this is my zone preference (most to least):

1. Westminster

2. Bloomsbury

3. Kensington-Earl's Court

4. NottingHill

5. The City

Actually, I'm willing to pay up to $170 (max) in Westminster for a 5* if that's even possible? But if they don't accept it, I can go with the least expensive 4* or better in any of the zones.

So far the highest bid I've made is $180.

Much appreciated.

Not sure if you're aware, but when you bid for a 4* that is the minimum that you are willing to accept, so if you have already bid up to $180 for a 4* hotel in all of the zones above, then 5* was automatically included in your bidding (which would mean that a 5* in Westminster is not able to be won at $180 or less this point in time (or at least at the time you placed your previous bid))

So to confirm... you want to try for a 5* hotel in the Westminster zone up to $170, if that is rejected then you're willing to accept a 4* or higher in any of the zones you've listed above? If this is correct you can start as follows:

When bidding 5* in London you have FOUR re-bid zones... NO re-bid zones at the 4* level.

Select 5* Westminster...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...

No luck yet! I've got nothing but rejections so far. I'm starting to get nervous because from the looks of it, the prices are just going higher as I get closer to my dates! The 4* PRICELINE EXPRESS deal in Westminster was about $197 3 weeks ago, now it's showing $358 since yesterday :(

Historically, are the prices just going to keep climbing? I'm wondering if I should book a cancellable hotel now (there is a Holiday Inn 4* Kensington Forum $219 which is the lowest I found) and maybe hope for the best?

You can never go wrong booking a cancellable back-up. ;)

If you do book the Holiday Inn, please use the board's link as found in our Support Page.

You can also search our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com which will show you hotels near almost any address in the world, and makes it easy to see how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating OR to start closer/further from your ideal location.

Also, sign-up at RateDrop for the zones and star ratings that you'd like, setting a price that would prompt you to buy... if something within your desired zone, star rating, and budget is available you'll get an email alert. ;)
