blackjackmark Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 2 nights 5/2-5/4 N Michigan Ave/River North area is my goal. Got the Intercontinental for the last weekend in March through Priceline for $106. However, this is a Cards/Cubs weekend and prices are high, but thought I'd start early and see if I can get a deal. Since there's so many rebid opportunities I started really low a8 $80, and went up in $5 increments to $120. Ran out of rebid zones so will try again tomorrow. Hopeful that maybe as we get closer to my dates that if rooms are not filled I will be successful! Otherwise I may find myself sleeping in the car! LOL
AaronJB Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Rates are really on the high side for these date/s and unfortunately - at least at this point - I think you're looking at likely needing a significantly higher bid. I will suggest that the North Burbs are going to be a significantly cheaper option (both in terms of hotel AND free parking versus very expensive parking downtown if you are driving in), but then it becomes taking the train or driving in (although I wouldn't drive to Wrigley if you are seeing the game.) In the North Burbs I think you could probably get a 3.5* for $40-45 and a 4* in the $57-65 range. At this point, I think you're likely looking at $150-175 for a 4* in the NMA area (plus parking.) blackjackmark Posted May 20, 2014 Author Report Posted May 20, 2014 Didn't end up staying...too expensive of a weekend with the Cardinals in town.
