Hi all,

Need some help here. First time trying out the bidding at Price.line and would like to know what is your suggestion to bid for 3* Hotels at Union Square East San Francisco.

My initial thought is

Bidding Price : $150

Bidding Date : 5/5/14 - 10/5/14

Is my bidding reasonable?

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

Under 'normal' demand your maximum bid of $150 would be reasonable, but rates look to be very high for these dates and currently i think it will take $200+ to be successful for these dates. I did a bit of searching and there is a 14K attendee convention in the city May 7-10 and this is likely causing the higher then usual rates for these dates.

Is USE the only zone you're willing to accept? Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels?

Thank you Admin for your reply.

Yeah, I did some search on PRICELINE EXPRESS deal and found out that the hotel rate during that period is tremendously high.

I take note of your advise and will try my luck to see if i could bid any below $200.

Will keep you update if the bid is successful.

I bidded $150 till $ 168 and Price.line had rejected all of them for 3* plus and above at Union Square East.

I think it is possible to secure a success bid only above $200. It is way too expensive. :(

Have you tried entering the address of your conference into the site above? What is the best deal you're able to find at an acceptable hotel within the distance you're willing to stay?

Are you able to accept a hotel anywhere within the USW and/or SOMA-Moscone Center zones?

3x

What is the address of the conference you're attending? (we need to check rates to make sure you don't overbid)

Given USE is not exactly in the immediate area of Berkeley, why not other San Francisco zones (or staying near Berkeley itself)... do you have plans at nite in the USE zone that you want to stay there or just looking to stay somewhere more lively than Berkeley? Will you have a car or how will you commute to the conference in each day?

Hello admin, i managed to book an apartment from private owner in the nob hill at around $200. Thank you so much for your assistance.

By the way, the bidding price for 3* plus at priceline is around $279 and 4* should be $341. The price is higher than their express deal.
