choy123 Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 Hello there,I'm looking for a place in Manhattan for this weekend (April 18-20). Was hoping for SOHO, Chelsea, or East Village. I've been tracking prices at least once a day for about a week now. Prices have been holding steady, 240+ for at least a 3.5* hotel in these three locations. Thinking that prices will not be where I want them to be (160-180 a night plus taxes) I'm thinking of looking elsewhere. Hotwire has a 3.5* hotel with the following amenities: Free breakfast, free internet, fitness center, restaurant(s), business center, self service laundry. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!! And of course I used the Hotwire link! Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you also see an INTERNET ACCESS amenity listed (in addition to the Free Internet amenity already listed)? If so, this property has not yet been reported to the board... a guess would be the Dylan Hotel, but i'm seeing conflicting information as to whether the breakfast is complimentary or not, so i'm not certain. There is a new 15% OFF discount available for PRICELINE EXPRESS in my signature, which would bring the 4* Chelsea property down to ~$200/nite (Restaurant, Business Center)... but not sure if the bump in star rating and one of your first choice of zones is worth the extra $30/nite or not. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
choy123 Posted April 16, 2014 Author Report Posted April 16, 2014 Ended up choosing a Priceline Express deal. After browsing this site the best guess as to what hotel it would be, was pointing towards the SoHo/Tribeca Courtyard. Even if it wasn't, other 3.5* hotels were in the same price range. I wanted location more than price, so I shelled out some more bucks. Looks like I got a great deal! Awesome awesome location (1/2 block to subway station). Avg nightly rate for this hotel is $399+ on every booking website. Looks like this hotel has jumped up to $277 after I booked it on the express deal. Thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Great win for a busy period! choy123 Posted April 16, 2014 Author Report Posted April 16, 2014 Amenities were: Free Internet in room, Restaurant, Business Center, Fitness Center. Wish I had seen/had access to the 15% off!
yellowdog Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Thanx for the follow-up. Sorry to see that you missed the code. Have a nice stay. Yellowdog. Please use the PRICELINE and hot.wire links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.
choy123 Posted April 22, 2014 Author Report Posted April 22, 2014 The hotel was GREAT! They actually overbooked us the first night. They 100% took care of that issue. Put us up in another Courtyard in midtown (not where I wanted to spend the night at all) for free, refunded us the night and gave us a free cab ride. Seems like they did what they were supposed to do. The area was great, and the hotel was top notch.
AaronJB Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Glad to hear that the hotel was quick to take care of the situation and gave you the free night after "walking" you due to overbooking. Thank you for the follow-up review. :) Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
