Priceline Hotel: Bidding help-Toronto hotels in June

Hi everyone,

 

I've been bidding on 3.5-star and above for June 20-25 in Toronto downtown area (SE, SW and North Bloorville) with no success. I had started at 72 and gone up to 92 without winning. I know my dates are further ahead, so I was wondering if I would have more success closer we get to these dates? I've also looked at the Winning Calendar at the wins made last year and this year between May and July, and it seems that my price range should be able to get something.

 

Any help you guys could offer would be appreciated. Thank you very much!

Here is a quick exercise... use our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com and:

1) search within 3 miles of Toronto, Canadad.

2) UNcheck all star ratings except 4* and higher

3) click 'PRICE' at the top of the list of hotels (this will sort by price from lowest to highest)

==> the least expensive 4* hotel for your dates is $192/nite, making your $92/nite bid less than half of prevailing rates, which does not give you a very high probability rate based upon current prices.

Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, but at current rates i think you will need to be somewhere in the $110-$130 range for a 4* hotel in one of these zones. PRICELINE EXPRESS has a current promotion (expires tonite) that could get you a 4* hotel in the Downtown SW-Entertaintment-Financial District for $120/nite, but not sure if you're willing to raise your bid or not at this point in time.

EDIT TO ADD: i just looked further and there are two conventions taking place during your dates:

PCMA Education Conference 2014 (6/22-6/25)

Salesforce.com (6/24-6/25)

... i'm not sure how big either even is, but i suspect that combined they may be effecting the higher than usual rates you're seeing.
