sonnitha Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Hi! This is my first time posting and i was hoping for some help with bidding for a Manhattan hotel through Priceline. My fiance and I will be in NYC for July 22-27 (5 nights) as the first portion of our honeymoon. It would be both out first times there. We are hoping for somewhere that is not too noisy, but nice atmosphere, close to subway and attractions, etc.. Some areas we liked were Midtown West, Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, possibly Soho (and open to suggestions). We would like a minimum 4 stars and are on a bit of a budget, hoping for $150/night - is that doable? I am a bit leery taking a chance with the hotel since it is our honeymoon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Current rates are a bit over your budget, i think you're likely looking at $150-$160 before fees/taxes for a well located 4* hotel. I see what i believe to be the Wyndham New Yorker for $153/nite (until tonite using the discount link and code in my signature) should this be of any interest... it's a historic property (you'll see it on many NYC skyline views photographs) that is very well located diagonally across from Penn Station (so each subway access), but is not really what i would consider to be a 'romantic' hotel given it's size. Everything else i'm seeing at the moment is more expensive (and not worth the additional cost relative to this property, imo) Your thoughts? sonnitha Posted April 11, 2014 Author Report Posted April 11, 2014 Thanks so much for your help! What percentage are the taxes and fees? Depending on these we could probably push it up to $170/night - would this get us a better 4 star? The Wyndham seems alright and good location, but it's quite a large hotel which I agree is not the most romantic.
AaronJB Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 You can see the total with taxes/fees if you go through the first couple of screens of the bidding process - for example, a $150 bid is is $188.87 w/taxes + fees. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
