mjd1965 Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Hi, I am interested in a 4* hotel in Midtown West, Times Square, or Chelsea for Sunday night, April 13th. I see a PRICELINE EXPRESS bid for $83 in Midtown West. 4* hotel, user rating of 8. Based on the amenities, I am guessing this might be the Sheraton on 53rd St. I know I cannot pick my hotel. None the less, what do you think of this offer? Too good to be true? Any advice on whether to accept this express bid or try NYOP for the neighborhoods listed is much appreciated. Thanks! One more note: I want to avoid a smoking room. Is this a big risk through NYOP or express deals? Thanks, M

mjd1965 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Report Posted April 10, 2014 Hi, thanks for the welcome. Here are the listed amenities: Free Internet in public areasPets AllowedRestaurantBusiness CenterFitness Center The internet in the public area and the user rating of 8 are what's making me think it might be the Sheraton. The Shoreham has a user rating of 7.
thereuare Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 I would agree that this looks to be the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel. If correct, the Sheraton is a smoke-free property, so that shouldn't be an issue. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mjd1965 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Report Posted April 10, 2014 Thanks. One more question: Is there any reason to try and bid to get the price down? This is my first time using Price.line. Are NYOP deals always lower, or in this case is the pl Express Deal about as good as it gets? Many thanks.
thereuare Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Bidding on PRICELINE can often be a little lower in price (although at this price i'm not sure how much lower, if any, you'll see this... certainly not much cheaper)... but the trade-off is that you're then subject to any 4* hotel in the zone, with no ability to take a guess as to the property (as we have done above). However, at this price, i wouldn't ponder this too long because should this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer disappear, i don't think you're doing to see anything else in the mid-$80's for this stay. ;) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
