niveknat Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Need help with bidding on Priceline for 4* hotel from 12/19-12/25, 1 Room.Tried bidding $100 max for Waikiki North and South, then tried adding Ihilani, but no success.Should I wait the 72 hours and try again? Or do you think my bids are too low? I also tried $75 max for 3* hotels in the same areas, but no success either. I tried using a different credit card, but it kept coming back with "duplicate request".Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
LoneStar Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 You have no realistic chance of getting a 4 star in Waikiki for $100 these days. Nobody has been successful at that price for over a year. You have a better chance with a 3 star at $75, but the week you want doesn't look terribly promising right now. I would go through each night on hotwire and priceline vacations and try to figure out if you have any "problem nights" and bid around them. That might not work either, of course. The good news is that there are rooms available, but you may have to pay more (significantly more for a 4 star). I would look at trying to book a "half off" rate with Aston or Outrigger using an Entertainment Card, check their cancellation policies and they rebid on priceline later.
niveknat Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 Thanks for your help, Lonestar.
niveknat Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 YES!! I finally got my rooms at the Hawaii Prince.. this looks sweet. And what a sweet deal on PL. Thanks everyone for your help.
LoneStar Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Did you shorten your stay, or are you doing something else for your other nights?
niveknat Posted December 5, 2005 Author Report Posted December 5, 2005 Yeah, I changed around my schedule so that the week trip was divided into three short stays: first two days on Oahu at Park Shore (boo), 2 days on the Big Island at Outrigger Keauhou, and the last 2 days on Oahu at Hawaii Prince. Worked out, since there are 5 of us travelling together as a family. Thanks for your advice and help, Lonestar.
