ikaikacalifornia Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Just hours ago, I excitedly visited the Price.line site and NYOP. Through research on this forum, I thought I knew what I was getting myself into, but I was wrong. I did not realize that I would feel like I was being forced into selecting more areas of town in order to ensure that I received a room deal. I had two specific locations in mind for Vegas, North Strip & South Strip. Because I thought I would get a chance to accept or decline the offer, and after feeling like I HAD to offer a 3rd location option, I ended booking (2) nights at the Trump. I am so upset. This hotel is a far distance from where we wanted to be. Our dates are May 4-May 6. I am not pleased and do not want to use the Priceline system again.
thereuare Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Sorry to hear you received a hotel in a zone that you didn't expect. Please add a reply to this thread with the winning bid price so we can add this to the topic title and enable this purchase to appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and our Priceline Maps, we'll then comment on your situation above. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ikaikacalifornia Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 More info - I bid and won $105.00 per night for a Studio Suit that includes a King Bed and Queen Sleeper Sofa. However, I do not feel like I won at all. I called the Trump today to inquire about an upgrade to 2 Queen beds, they said it would be an additional $25 per night! I hated this experience! I feel helpless, out of luck, and manipulated.
pugsly8422 Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 One time I was doing the NYOP option on PRICELINE. At that point, I was still a beginner at all of this (although I thought I had it down). In my mind I had assumed that all of the hotels on the "Hotel List" here covered all of the possibilities. Now I know better. I added a zone that actually had a hotel that matched what I was looking for. Anyway, I ended up getting a hotel far away from the located I wanted. I tell you this because I was able to get PRICELINE to refund me half of my payment, and offer me a refund of 50% of the remaining balance after I booked with them again (so basically a 75% refund) within a year. So it is possible to get a partial refund, if you have a legitimate reason as to why you deserve it. Enjoy your trip.
ikaikacalifornia Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 UPDATE: Priceline has cancelled my reservation and will be refunding me 100% of my money. This makes me happy. I will NEVER use NYOP again, unless I have extremely flexible circumstances.
thereuare Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Glad to see PRICELINE had a heart and cancelled the reservation, as this is certainly much more the exception and not the rule. I would not rule out PRICELINE just yet, but instead ask the board for help next time and i'm sure we can help guide you to a more satisfactory outcome. With more than a month to go before your arrival i'm not sure why you felt compelled to 'win something today' and add zones that you apparently didn't want to stay in. There are times that you can additional zones in order to bid again inside of 24 hours, but these are 'special' re-bid zones, which are detailed here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained Las Vegas is actually a great PRICELINE city since the 5* hotels are all of high quality and often deeply discounted. Perhaps seeing how PRICELINE cancelled your reservation, when they were under no obligation to, you should give them another chance, but take the time to understand the nuances of their service in order to help ensure a more favorable outcome. If you're looking to book a 'known' hotel going forward, you can try our Las Vegas Rate Checker or our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com (use 'Las Vegas Strip' as your location and not just 'Las Vegas') to help you quickly and easily compare rates to help get the best deal. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
