Hotwire Hotel: 4.5* New York City (Midtown Central) Park Lane Hotel

HI:  I recently (April 10, 2014)  booked a 4.5* hotel in NYC in the Midtown Central region  that was advertised at 79% off.  I made the reservation for four people.

I won the Park Lane Hotel which  I promptly looked up.    The price of the room was no where near a 79% off discount and the hotel

had no availability for 4 people .  (On hotwire, you can request a room for 4 people). They said the price of $1099 was the median price of ALL 4.5 star hotels in the area.   But other 4.5 * hotels in the region

were listed at a lower price.   They wanted to charge us 70 dollars extra for two cotts.  I immediately called Hotwire and was on the

phone with them for at least 1 hour and 1/2 trying to get this straighted out.  After arguing with them -- because I did not get a room for 4 people

at the price of $229 (since the cotts were an extra 70 dollars)  for 79% off.   They agreed to give me a credit as long as I booked another hotel

through them.   I did.    I went through the same thing.   They booked me a hotel with one King bed and would not guarantee a room with two

queen beds. After arguing again on the phone for at least an hour, they found me a room with two queen beds.   They could not get me a 4.5 * hotel for 229 so they booked me a 4* hotel and promised me the same price of 229.   They said they would pay

the difference.   Once again, they did not follow through.   My credit card was charged an extra $357 for the room. 

 

I will never book with Hotwire again.  I have never had any problems with priceline .    They do not care about the customer and they will say and do whatever it takes

to get you to book a room through them.  My vacation has started on a very sour not and it is unfortunate that we as consumers can be treated like this.
