augweb Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I Am looking for a hotel in Key West on May 12 until May 14th. My maximum would be 140$ per night with a minimum of a 3* hotel. What do you think is better old town or new town? Thank you guys for your terrific work here! You already helped me a lot!
Romelle Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 As the name implies, Old Town is where the history is. Maybe you could look at the Hotel Reviews area at the end of this site and see if there are any reviews that sort of "speak to you". It pretty much depends upon your personal preferences. I like old and scruffy and complex. And earplugs fix the noise. Some people like new and shiny and convenient with all the amenities. The last time I was there, there was a free trolley making a big loop through both areas. It also isn't that far to simply walk. Parking can be a challenge, with Old Town of course being the more difficult. Romelle
thereuare Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Historically this is a very difficult region to bid. I think your chances of landing a hotel within your $150 budget is greater in the New Town zone and more difficult in the Old Town zone, but if you have a preference you can bid one first and then other (or if price is the most important factor bid them both together and lest the least expensive hotel in either zone accept your bid), however, ultimately you may need to include both zones to win a hotel in this region. augweb Posted April 5, 2014 Author Report Posted April 5, 2014 Concerning your tips, i would prefere bitting on both areas to get a deal. Pease give ma an advice on the bitting strategy.
thereuare Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 When bidding 3* in the Key West region you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. augweb Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Posted April 8, 2014 I got the Doubletree Grand Key Resort for $145 per night. i think it is a fair deal. Not the best I've got but dezent.
thereuare Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Congratulations on your success! As it is often difficult to see any discount in this zone, i think this is a very good deal vs. a conventionally booked room for these dates. Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
