annabellec
I am trying to identify hotels but the zones on priceline and hotwire don't match the zones on better bidding. I don't see the Medical Center-University Zone on better bidding. Can someone clarify? Thanks so much! Link to comment
Romelle
To start with, the zones on Hotwire and Priceline are simply different. Sometimes they are fairly similar, but you can't count on it. When bidding, for each system you have to use the current zone maps of that system. Then, to complicate things, each of them changes every once in a while. Betterbidding uses the zones as the hotels are reported - from either Priceline or Hotwire. When hotel bearing a brand new zone is reported, the plan is to then go back and rework the earlier reported hotels, re-grouping them into the new zones. An example is the Paris Airport zone - CDG. It used to be just one big zone. Then Priceline started treating it as an East-CDG and a West-CDG. When a report came in using one of these new zones, somebody went back to the earlier reports and hand separated those hotel reports into the new two zones. Now there is a third new zone there. I'm not sure whether it has been hand-worked or not yet, but know it will be. In your instance, I'm guessing the Medical Center-U zone is a new one and the old hotel reports that now would fall in that zone map haven't been changed over to it. It could also be that there simply hasn't been a hotel reported that is in that zone. This is more unlikely though, as Memphis is a fairly busy place with quite a bit of reporting. thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. It looks like on PRICELINE there have not yet been any hotels reported to the board in this zone... it will take a bit longer for me to investigate on HOTWIRE. Do you have a need to stay in this specific zone? What are the dates of your stay? What is your desired star rating and maximum budget per nite? What are your hotel needs for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
