R1C3RCKT Posted March 30, 2014 Report Posted March 30, 2014 Hi there, I'm new to the board, but not new to bidding on hotels. Thought I would help contribute to the board and hopefully get some information through searching. I'm doing a ham-fisted roadtrip starting on April 7th starting near Toronto, driving to NYC that day and leaving NYC around midnight. Destination is the Portofino Inn in California 48 hours later, followed by Las Vegas the next 2 nights, a romp through death valley and Yosimite, for some rest in San Fran, meandering up the coast in 2 days for a night in Vancouver, Jasper and finally Edmonton all in 10 days!Long story short, I'll be bidding on a 5star in Vegas for a thursday and Friday night. Will let you guys know what I come up with. I'm not too picky, but would like to stay on the main strip and not at the Trump(avoid Strip North Vicinity). Cheers,

thereuare Posted March 30, 2014 Report Posted March 30, 2014 At the moment i think $150 or less seems do-able for your above dates... what is your maximum bid for this two nite stay? PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone for $161/nite and the discount code and link in my signature takes an extra 5% OFF, bringing this down to $153/nite: Outdoor Pool Free Parking Restaurant Business Center Casino Fitness Center If this is within your budget i would suggest bidding up to $150/nite, and if that is rejected take the $153/nite (after discount) offer from PRICELINE EXPRESS. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help along the way. R1C3RCKT Posted March 31, 2014 Author Report Posted March 31, 2014 I'm a little curious. When I go to bid, it says the average retail price for a 5* in the North was 125 and now 123. I've looked, but have not found those prices listed. Any idea where these numbers are coming from? Thereuare, thats the plan, bid until the prices comes close to a pl Express deal, than just take the express deal! Cheers,
thereuare Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 When I go to bid, it says the average retail price for a 5* in the North was 125 and now 123. I've looked, but have not found those prices listed.Ignore the 'average retail rate' information, the logic used if flawed and not meaningful in determining your bidding strategy or approach. Thereuare, thats the plan, bid until the prices comes close to a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal, than just take the express deal! While nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, i think waiting it a mistake: 1) the 5% OFF promo ends in a few days, so the extra $7-$8 will disappear shortly 2) more importantly, the current 5* PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel could disappear at any time, and currently the other 5* hotels (with casinos, aka, not the Trump) are closer to $200/nite... should the current offer at $153/nite disappear, your next available options are substantially higher Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
