shahvishal85 Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 Hi, I am very new to this and I have read a lot of posts and rebidding guide. Hopefully, you can help me with my trip to las vegas. First, I wanted to confirm that if I bid on priceline for the 3½ Star Hotel in Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South Area, I would get either Luxor or Flamingo if I win and no other hotel. Of course, unless they upgrade me freely to a higher hotel. The 3½ Star Hotel in Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South Area is listed as $47/night for those dates. Can you please provide me with a bidding advice as to what I should start with and how high I should go? I will use the links provided by this site of course. Thanks in advance for you help.
thereuare Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! First, I wanted to confirm that if I bid on priceline for the 3½ Star Hotel in Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South Area, I would get either Luxor or Flamingo if I win and no other hotel. Of course, unless they upgrade me freely to a higher hotel. No, this is not correct... i assume you are basing this on these two hotels being the only two at the 3.5* level in the Priceline Hotel List? If so, read the comments at the top of the hotel list... while these are the only two hotels reported to the board in this zone and star level, in addition to your bid being upgraded, it's possible that there is another 3.5* hotel that has not yet been reported OR a hotel already reported that has been upgraded/downgraded. Please confirm if you'd still like to move forward bidding for a 3.5* hotel in this zone, and also where you are seeing the $47/nite rate... is that from PRICELINE EXPRESS? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
shahvishal85 Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 Yes, the $ 47 is for the 3.5* hotel from the priceline express in Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South Area. I was basing the two hotels (Luxor and Flamingo) from the priceline hotel list. So from that I am hoping that there is a very good chance of me getting 1 of those hotels if I bid in this area. So I would like moving forward with bidding for a 3.5* hotel in this zone. I just want to make sure that they would not give me a hotel like travel lodge. Thanks.
Romelle Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 There are two Travelodges in Las Vegas. One is a 2* and the other is a 1* on the Priceline retail side. The star rating is consistent between PL's retail and bidding sides (or in the very rare exceptions, it is one of the few reasons PL will let one cancel). When bidding 3.5*s there is no chance of getting a 2* or lower rated hotel. But as thereuare noted, it is always possible to get a hotel as yet not reported on this site. I've had that happen several times. Romelle
shahvishal85 Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 Thanks Romelle! I think I am going to take the risk and go for it. Can you please provide me the bidding advice? Thanks,Vishal
thereuare Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 As PRICELINE EXPRESS currently has a 5% OFF promotion (see the discount link and code in my signature) the room rate for that one would come down to ~$45/nite, so i would use the following bidding strategy: When bidding 3.5* in Las Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 3.5* Strip South... Bid $33, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $38, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $43 If the above is rejected take the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer using the link in my signature. Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes. shahvishal85 Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 Hi before I start I just wanted to confirm that these would be my rebidding zones for 3.5 star hotel before I start bidding? Also, I read somewhere if there is a resort in rebidding zone then PRICELINE counts it as 4 or 5 star automatically. I hope those are not in the rebidding zones below. boulder strip Henderson NW Las Vegas Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway Thanks, Vishal
Romelle Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Yes, those are your rebidding zones for right now. But do check each day before you start to bid. The "Resort" zone is no longer used, so you don't have to worry about that. Good luck. Romelle
shahvishal85 Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 Tried Bidding yesterday. Our dates changed to two nights instead of Three so the express price is $63 per night. Bid $40, it was rejected so I added re-bid zone...Bid $ 43, it was rejected so I added re-bid zone...Bid $47, it was rejected so I added re-bid zone...Bid $50, it was rejected so I added re-bid zone...Bid $53, It was rejected again. My understanding is I have to wait 24 hours before bidding again (is this true?) So I will do it tonight and see if I win otherwise i will take the express price of $ 63 per night.
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 You have to wait 24 hours before being able to make the same particular bid again. Thank you for keeping us updated and please let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
